    Default Horror Movie Cliches

How many can we come up with?

There's the classic heroine trip & fall... extra points for ankle injury. And the more recent- but SOOO overused shot where something dark darts across the background (always with super obvious framing) whilst the unsuspecting soon-to-be victim looks the other way.

Which ones get an eye roll every time you see them? Which movie cliche do you never want to see again?

Well you know if you take your cloths off in a horror movie your dead. and of course the virgin saves the day until the sequel...after sequel....after sequel... until you get to part 20 when the villain actually dies because no one cares about the franchise anymore.

when a character is looking for something (under a bed, behind a door, in a medicine cabinet) and the camera pans with the character and then returns and someone or something is standing behind them or where they were just looking.
That's right. There's another tradition. A very important one...Always check your candy

our hero/heroine hears a noise and goes to investigate, usually early in the movie, they look under the bed, the closet and then the cat jumps out of the basket/drawer/etc. They laugh at themselves for being startled.

The shot where a character is in one corner of the frame & there's all this empty space behind them that's occasionally blurry & then all of a sudden something or someone bad shows up in that space.

It always kills me when all hell is breaking loose and instead of running for their life, someone (typically a female) demands an explanation as to what is going on before they run to safety as blood is oozing down the walls or the killer approaches.

The funny part is that my wife is relatively like that. I remember looking out the window one time and seeing that our koi pond had drained and the fish were flopping around. I went into emergency mode as was telling her to help get some buckets of water and she just started asking questions instead of immediately helping - why do you need buckets, i don't understand, what's going on, yada, yada, yada. It was such a cliche moment.

By the way, I love that insurance commercial where the teens keep making bad decisions like deciding to hide behind blood soaked chainsaws instead of getting into a car and driving away.

That scene where, as mentioned above, similarly, where an explanation is asked for but responded with "There's no time! ..." and then its like "Why?/Why not?/What?" And then by the time they're done conversing about how there's not enough time "Just come on" More than enough time has passed to explain.

When someone looks in the bathroom mirror, looks away, and then back in the mirror to see something scary behind them. But recently that hasn't been happening, so I kind of get all riled up when a character does that only for nothing to happen...

Jumpscares... So predictable and so not scary.
