Let's Make an Eyeball Plant, or Flowers (crafting)
I really enjoyed doing the group mandrake and shrunken head activities. I was not planning on heading up another one until after Halloween, but I found myself starting to work on a project myself that I wanted to do for a long time, and thought I'd love some company while I craft. So, let's do this again!

To review, this is a very relaxed activity, open to all, with no timeline. So just jump on in at any point. It's fun to kind of 'get together' and make our own versions. To repeat from last time: This is not a organized tutorial by any means. I thought we could share ideas and then could create our own versions of an eyeball plant or a bouquet of eyeball flowers, and come back and post progress, ask questions, submit ideas, and then our finished project.

Pick the medium that you feel most comfortable with. No hard and fast rules here. Hopefully we have some laughs and wind up with a cool craft item at the end.

What I am thinking of making. Is a plant, inspired by the eyeball lichen/moss plant in the movie Labyrinth. Like this...

I really liked Mizerella's version she did a few years ago.
I am going to loosely follow her tutorial (link below).

Here are some eyeball plants/flowers that I have started to pin to a board on pinterest for ideas.

So join me! You know you want to!! Who couldn't use a creepy plant in their decor?! haha
If you have already done an eyeball plant or bouquet of flowers, PLEASE share a photo and some tips with us!

    Ready. Set. Go!!!!!

To start off. I copied HF member, frog kid's eyeball-goth arrangement a year or two back. My first project like this. Simply hot glued pingpong type eyeballs into the center of a bouquet of black roses (all from Dollar Tree). Easy and inexpensive.

After watching the Grandin Road 'Entranced' video recently, I was inspired to try a little more glam eyeball flower. Found this pretty flower the other day at Micheals, removed the middle part and hot glued one of my 'fungeye' eyeballs I made last year. haha I really like it! I might make a bouquet (but the rose was a bit pricey, so maybe one will do.) haha

OK. Off to get started on my eyeball lichen plant!!

I am in at some point. Love the look of the big rose, and the mossy eyeball plants. I do need some more creepy potted plants to go with my Mandrake.

I did this back in 2009 - they are my EYE-ris plants.

Michaels clearance flower arrangements (single stem in resin water) with the center of the rose pulled out and a foam eyeball inserted - not glued - so I can change the angle of the eyeball randomly. Liked doing that so they were looking in a different direction if someone walked by a few minutes later, it gave the effect of the flower having been looking around and freezing in place the minute someone came back into the room.

This is exactly what I want to do! After making the mandrake, now I want to create other creepy plants. So far I'm going to make Audrey II and a Piranha plant from Mario. Now one of these! Also thought about making a "killer" tomato plant.
