You know I love Labyrinth! As you, Hilda, once said in a message to me "80s Bowie, what's not to love", and I wholeheartedly agree! LOL!
Of course now I'm seeing that eyeball photo & thinking of Labyrinth, I am singing "You remind me of the babe! What babe? The babe with the power! What power? The power of voodoo! Who do? You do! What? Remind me of the babe!"
Oh, happy 80s movies, how I love thee.... anyway, I definitely want to make some sort of eyeball plant with you guys, but we're heading out of town soon & I'm supposed to be packing right now. So it'll have to wait until after our vacation.
I did make a small eyeball plant last year but it's a little different. I got one of those dollar store fake plants, made over the pot & added moss inside, then glued on fake grapes to the edges, then glued on a googly eye to the grape so it looked like eyeballs. It was small but looked strange, which worked for me. I made one for my Main Reaper Victim & one for me. Here's how it turned out ~
And, as a total aside about 80s movies we know & love, I saw this on FB today - The NeverEnding Story is having a limited movie theater run in early September - http://patch.com/new-jersey/montclai...rs-limited-run
A little featurette about NES will run with it. Squee!!!!
ETA - this is my 1,000th post! And I got to mention David Bowie in it! WIN!
hahahaha EARWORM!!! Now I have it in my head!!!
'What kind of magic spell to use?
Slime and snails
Or puppy dogs' tails
Thunder or lightning
Then baby said...'
OH man. Good stuff!!!!
So happy you are joining in! Love your little goggly-eye plant!
Have fun on your vaca!! We'll be here when you get back!
OK I started. It is painfully obvious this project is already out of hand. hahahaha
Found a dirty old clay flower pot in my garage. Grunged it up even more than it was with some paints.
Found some scrap foam pieces, cut them to shape, and gorilla glued them into the pot.
Stuck random pieces of wire (drop ceiling hanging wire) into the foam.
Stuck styrofoam eyeballs I bought at Micheals the other day on the end of each piece of wire.
Sat and considered my next step for a while. Then decided to go with crumpled up aluminum foil for the stalks.
I am thinking that it's going to be YUGGGGEEEEE. I should have started with a MUCH smaller pot.
Well, I'm already committed.
I'm just going to let this plant take me where it wants to. haha
Well, your plant looks appropriately sized to the pot anyway. Looking terrific so far!!
OMG you two! That will always be one of my favorite movies I was completely enamored with the whole goblin world when I was little. The junk lady is a fav too because there is just so much detail to catch. All of her treasures riding around on her back. Creepy but cool!
Great progress on those eyes already Hilda! Cant wait to see that finished. I agree with PIB too, the size is perfect!
You grab the broom and I'll get the book, it's time again for All Hallows Eve!
oooh, eyeball plants!
Chewbacca, love the severed fingers around your plants! That looks great!
So, since there are clearly some Labyrinth aficionados here, maybe we should make something like this next ~
It's a St. Jareth prayer candle, from here - https://www.etsy.com/listing/1721721...f=sr_gallery_1
LOLOL! It'll keep the Goblins away!
