That is a truly sad story. I'm sorry for your loss. It may have been a wild bird, but definitely a part of the family.

    He was also my BFF
    My Best Feathered Friend

He used to steal my daughter’s baby socks when she pulled them off in the back yard & take them to his nest[/QUOTE]

Did he ever bring you gifts? I have heard stories of crows bringing various "shiny" objects they have found as gifts. Or maybe that was ravens? Either way, a very cool story. I'm sorry he's gone 😔

Regarding rescues...there was a cat in our yard a few months ago and he had a very broken leg. We couldn't catch him so I called the local cat rescue. They brought out a trap (all we ever caught was our own resident stray cat). They said if we caught him, they couldn't (or wouldn't) take him to the vet. That would be our responsibility. Unfortunately, the cat never turned up again so I fear he either died or got eaten by a coyote. I was very disappointed that the rescue wasn't interested in rescuing.

    Crow Funeral
Maybe my old friend’s children are following me. This feathered Friend nearly flew in the shop door behind me & waited for me until I left.

Crows, in particular are known to be able to describe people to other crows. So it just might be.

Dunno what to think anymore. Even if they forgive me .. I can’t forgive myself.

Sorry to hear of the loss and like said before they are very smart birds and that other bird could have been told that your are a good person and that branch is a show of forgiveness and knows that you were only trying to help Pappa. Last night when I got home I saw the hawk on the fence post and when he flew off the crows were after him as always. I always know when the hawk is around by all the noise from the crows.

I'm sorry you lost Pappa, years ago I lived in another town, and we used to have crows in the back yard, I used to feed them all the time, it got to the point that when they heard my voice outside they'd come flying down aand land all around me. We've since moved to another town, and we don't seem to have any crows here. I hope you regain the trust of Pappa's family. I miss have the murder around.

My heart is broken for you and your family as well as his.
