Default What's everyone up to in this off season

Well with that Other holiday over with the days count down until the real holiday comes around again.

What is everyone doing with their time now, as it's 297 days away, that's even remotely Halloween related??

Me I am trying to clean the disaster of a workshop area I have in the corner of my 5 1/2 ft tall basement as well as the rest of it and reorganize.

Just waiting for some snow. I know I should be doing more cleaning, & I will, but right this moment I'm reading & watching movies.
Roger Clyne & the Peacemakers, the best damn little band you should be listening to!

I've been binge watching the seasons of Face/Off and thinking of my theme for this year. I seem to have collected quite a lot of items for a witchy theme.

Aren't we all glad that the Cycle and the Count Down has started.
Halloween is just frigging addictive in so many ways.
Even over the Christmas season, my mind was still on Halloween, both past and future.
How to do it bigger and better?, but tastefully and not cheap and tacky.
There in lies the Secret, to not just having just a Haunt, but to having a Good Haunt or to having a Great Haunt.
It requires Planning and more Planning.
It doesn't require Money and more Money, it just needs to be Planned out, way way way in advance.
Each and every year the Count Down gets Shorter and Shorter and Shorter.
I guess it is True, that as we all get Older, the Time just seems to fly by all that much quicker and quicker.
We were never ones for putting up our Christmas decorations until about December the 8th, my sons birthday.
But now, we totally agree with others, that as soon as American Thanksgiving is over, the next day ( Black Friday ) we will be putting up our Tree and putting up all of the Outdoor and Indoor garland and everything else that goes with it, so that as of December 1st, we can just sit back and enjoy the entire season.
Well, we have also found out the hard way, that Halloween also needs to be set up and DONE as of the 1st of October, if not a lot bit sooner.
Halloween being just the One Main Night, is that much more worse that Christmas is, for making the time to be enjoying all of your hard work to the fullest, for the entire month of October.
Being able to sit back and ENJOY it all, while letting out a Big Sigh of Relieve that it is all finally DONE, is where the enjoyment factor comes into play.
You need to PLAN for it, and PREPARE for it, far far in advance of the date, that you initially give yourself.
We think, that if you plan for October 1st to be up and running, realistically change that date to September 1st, just in order to give yourself that extra cushion.
As you know by now, we just purchased a 1967 Cadillac Hearse for this years Haunt ( Well......I purchased it, and have STILL not told my wife about it! Why wreck the New Year, or the Spring time, or our Summer Holidays, with the news of the Hearse? lol ) and it has been on my mind, ever since I got it, about a month ago now.
I am planning on putting "Ground Effects" LED Lights underneath it ( They are Dirt Cheap off of Ebay ) so that she Glows GREEN from all sides. I am also going to be putting Green Flickering LED Lights in her Casket party room, so that she is Glowing a Spooky Green.....for the entire month of October, as she sits on the street in front of our Haunted Grave Yard.
Not sure what you all think? but I am thinking of putting a Coffin up on her Roof, also with Green Lights beaming out of it, for all to see in passing.
I would like to have the Back Door open on her, with a Coffin leaning up against the Open Door....but....with our Rain at that time of year, I don't think that will be possible until Halloween Night, weather permitting.
So, Im thinking, of just putting a Coffin up on her Roof for all to see, as they Drive by.
I have been looking every where for pictures of a Hearse with a Coffin on its Roof, but so far.....I have found absolutely nothing like that.
I think, that it would look pretty cool?
I would find an Old Suction Cup Roof Rack and spook it up a bit, and just mount the Coffin directly to that.
I could put a tiny white picket fence around the Roof rack, and have the Coffin inside of it.
Well....that is the vision that I presently have for it.
Did I mention yet?, that the Wife has No Idea that I have purchased a Hearse for this years Haunt? lol
I am also kicking around the idea of having a Fog machine in the back of the Hearse, and may be doing an Infinity window in the Rear Window or in the side window that is on the Sidewalk side of the Hearse?
I think, that the Back Window might be the Best, for the over all look.
But, for Safety sakes.....the Sidewalk window, might be the Safest for the little kids and their parents to look into.
Love to hear your own suggestions and ideas for the Hearse.
I would also Love to have some Scary Music playing in it or.....I'd put the speakers in the Roof Top Coffin?
Nothing too Loud, just some subtle back ground music?
Being that it is a Hearse, I'd Love to play the Theme song from the Munsters lol.....but.....How many people would actually know who the Munsters are or even know the Munsters Theme song?
Some of us could Relate to it.
May be.....a Loop of various sounds?
Here it is only January the 8th, and my head is spinning with lots of ideas for this years Halloween Haunt.
My Biggest issue with Halloween to date is, not the Planning of it, it is the Hiding of our Hearse from the Wife! LOL
I was going to mention it while opening Presents under the Tree....and just say, that I had bought myself a Christmas present ( How can you get Mad about that? ) and then...I was going to mention it on New Years Eve ( Then thought....Why start off the New Year with the chance of an argument? lol ) ...... and NOW?.....I am just Winging the announcement, as they say....It is all about the Timing! hahaha
Us guys just never ever know, how the women in our Lives will react, and we usually always guess WRONG, when it comes to the Timing! lol
Hey.....if you have any ideas for the Hearse or a Coffin on the Roof....or on the Music or Sound coming out of her, Id Love to hear your suggestions and ideas.
Happy New Year to you all.
Best wishes for the BEST YEAR and for the BEST HALLOWEEN..... Ever!

Well we have the basement workshop in common....About a month ago I renamed my Halloween Youtube channel to Basement Haunter and started uploading crappy videos....I got 1 new subscriber on New Years...LOL....It has seriously slowed down making props but I'm enjoying the video making process......I've figured out the technical basics of what I need to put videos together but my first work in progress tutorial has been what feels like a train wreck....I think the videos are getting a little better as I go but it's harder than I thought it would be....I think I should have tackled a smaller project for my first project because this one has many parts - silicone caulk molding, pouring resin fiberglass, 3d design/printing, electrical, etc....I don't know how many parts it's going to end up being but on working on part 6 now....I think everything should come together in a few more....I hope....LOL....I'm finding on evenings like tonight when the wind is howling and it's freezing, it's nice to have a work area to retreat to...I keep a pellet stove fire on low so it stays room temperature....I'm hoping the more experience I get, the videos get better but that's what I'm working on now that's Halloween related....ZR
