I'm with most of you, I try not to use gore in my haunt. In fact several of you brought up good points about strobes and other items that could be perceived as insensitive. However, I'm a little concerned about one of my props I have planned for this year. The prop was the demonic nun from the Conjuring. She pops out at people and this will be our first time using her. I wasn't going to get it at first since I was concerned those with religious beliefs would be offended. My son and...

I started mine in leftover Benecol butter cup & they're not even close to being ready to be transplanted. I planted some milkweed seeds the exact same day & they are much larger than the stick pumpkins but not by much. I may plant a few more of them this weekend now that it's getting really warm.

I've just started digging around in the sound section of Halloween Forum and stumbled across your post. I have to admit, at the start is sounds a whole lot like some of the tracks I made to listen to at night when I'm falling asleep. I too enjoy gratuitous owls. However, I love the way it took a turn for the spookier. Thanks for posting your work. It was a great deal of fun.

I'm a little late to this parrrrrty, but here is my pirate yard from last year in case it provides any inspiration. https://www.halloweenforum.com/members/piratedex-albums-2018-pirates.html Walk through of my setup from 2016, which was similar. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lNUKQ73mgdk

I switched my planted aquarium from a full spectrum fluorescent bulb on a simple on/off timer to a 24/7 led bulb (simulates sunrise/sunset) about 6 months ago and it's done WONDERS to the plants in there. Relatively cheap (70ish), I don't see why it wouldnt translate to 'dry' plants? But halloween budget is mostly tied up in other projects for this year. If this Millet takes off and I'm having to grow indoors for 8 weeks every year, it will definitely be on the list.

I've used various grow lights, and I agree with Col. Fryght's assessment. There are some seeds that need light to germinate, and if started indoors those will benefit from full-spectrum lighting. If you're growing orchids year 'round under artificial lighting, go with the pricy bulbs. But for giving cucurbits a jump start for a few weeks, I don't think it's worth the cost. You'd do them a lot more good by starting them in a flat and setting it outside when the weather permits. That...

Downsizing means getting rid of all the pieces like bases and platforms, over the years as the village got bigger I kept making new bases. So this year each house will have a forever base, everything left over goes. This is what I been working on, just waiting for some street lights (not Spooky Town) to finish it.

Blade, sounds a little bit similar to my set up but with key variations in structural support of it and post design (yours I-beam and mine U-shaped). Cool to have someone doing this along with me this year! Can't wait to see how yours comes out and feel free to post your progress here under this thread. Should make it easier for people interested in doing an electrified fence to find ideas on constructing one and learn from our different projects. I looked into the cost of various width...

Well sooner is always better than later, LOL, but I usually start when Michaels gets the new stuff in. If memory serves, that's usually around end July to early August. Once I see the new pieces in person and make those first purchases, I get bitten by the village bug and want to start my display. My dream is to someday have a designated spot where I could leave my village up year-round. I could do a lot more detail work on it if it was in a permanent location and I had more time to tinker...

I'm mostly looking to start plants earlier in the season as Oregon has a pretty short season on the west side of the Cascade range. I have to admit they look weird, but then I realize plants don't exactly see light the same way we do. It's been years since I photosynthesized.

I don't like gore...it's too meah ... usually with little story value. I want to entertain the young ones not scare them. That's the reason I stick with Disney themes. I do have some games so there's a bit of interaction with the crowd. Putting up a Halloween fence this year too. I had over 300 TOTers and it killed my lawn with a few things being accidentally kicked and damaged. Is it too tacky (not in good taste and decency) to do a fundraiser on facebook? I really have a lot of...

I recently had a conversation with a friend that works at a custom lighting company. Some of her lamps have plastic candles. She has been throwing away the extra ones. She just gave me my first batch of the leftover candles. They already have factory candle wax drips on them. They also come with a plastic sleeve to go on the inside to cover up any wiring. My only problem is that they are all only 4 inches tall and 1 inch wide so I will have to wire them. Give me some ideas how to use these. And...
