Hello all,
I am looking to get a jump start on Halloween this year. Unlike last year, I learned the hard way about waiting right up until October to set up for my Halloween event, so I am already planning now.
Since I am anticipating mostly daytime TOT's due to the way Halloween falls this year on a Sunday, I am opting to go the 'non-scary' family friendly route to take advantage of the most exposure possible.
I have chosen a "pumpkin" theme and I will be needing many different types of pumpkin props to decorate the area I am holding my event.
Naturally most gift, party, and craft stores are not yet gearing up for Halloween, so the pickings are slim. Amazon Online has also proved to be insufficient.
What I need are some links to some good dedicated on-line Halloween stores. I am looking for a more pronounced selection in props rather than costumes. Most sites I have come across seem to emphasize either the costume, or very scary genre...neither of which I am doing this year.
Thus any advice would be appreciated.
Thank You,
Geo

I can't speak to their selection of pumpkins specifically, but Oriental Trading Co. has inexpensive Halloween supplies year-round. Check the Coupons section of the forum for codes to help even more:

Since you are doing a pumpkin theme, you could go the Harvest route. Lots of corn stalks, bails of hay. If you have a Pat Catans craft store near you they have alot of their Halloween stuff out, including several pumpkin themes decorations.

Not sure about online and it most definitely will be seasonal so all of the suggestions below start getting stuff in soon - generally Halloween is stocked starting in July and through Halloween.
For non-scary stuff:
Jo Ann Fabrics also has some good stuff decor-wise. They had lots of nice things that are not the super scary - fake pumpkins for carving, etc..They do coupons also. You have to be on their mailing list or sign up online to get them tho.
Michaels does a good selection too. They do have some mildly scary, but not all of it. You can definitely find coupons for them as well.
Hobby Lobby has more of a harvest theme and absolutely not scary. Sweet-faced scarecrows, pumpkins, etc..
Take a look at this thread also for sightings in the stores:

I agree michaels crafts has a bunch of pumpkins which you can cut and create to your liking. They will most likely have all fall decor out on shelves in august. Best of luck to ya!
A Halloween prop is a terrible thing to waste..

Hello,
Thank you all for the suggestions.
For the most part none of the stores mentioned are local to me with the exception of Michael's...we have about 2 or 3 stores in my area alone. I had checked them out about a week or so ago and they didn't have much...but it is true that I checked out one of the smaller stores.
The Oriental Trading site is nicely organized and have still to get fully through it, but that is a good start until the Michael's stores get stocked by me. I do like the idea that you can carve out some of the pumpkins on your own, this way I can make them look "different". The only question is cost.
Thanx again!
Geo
