    Hi Gang,

Looking for some ideas/links to CHEAP basic projectors. Im simply looking for one I can hook up to a laptop and project a reversed video. Anything out there besides craigslist/ebay would be appreciated!
    Thanks

Here is what I have to sell - a Shift XL-90 entertainment projector

Pictures are attached. The specs. are - 120 v, Dimensions: (mm) 230x220x80, projection distance 6 feet (I used a distance of 15' and projected on a white sheet in the barn), image: size up to 90" diagonally, stereo: input and output to single speaker, lighting: MR16 12VAC 50W, resolution: 480 x 240 DPI, radiator fan: 12V/0.25, 6020, 5500ppm.

This was used I weekend only, the prop I made wasn't of interest to the public, so we didn't used the rest of the month. I changed the prop theme. People wanted to be scared and not entertained.

I am asking $50.00 plus shipping.

Got this one for Christmas, haven't tried it out yet. It was on sale then for $75 or less I think.

You could always get an UltraProjector - A little more expensive, but work great for haunts (No computer or DVD connection needed!):

No offense FloridaHaunter, but me thinks you're a lackey for Ultraprojector.com. ALL of your 4 posts are testimonial praises for the Ultra Projector.
So, either you really like the product, or you're working for the ultra projector company. There's no good that can come from trying to boost sales by pretending to be a forum member in love with the U projector. If not I stand corrected. If my opinion constitutes a personal attack or insult to you, I apologize.

My opinion of the ultra projector is that it's a slightly better attempt than a toy projector. I guess if your looking for that "basic projector", as the postee asked, then this is it; a cheap (not in price) basic projector! You should be satisfied with the ultra projector Faceless.

Eyegore... I understand the sceptisim, but no - I am not a Lacky for UP. I ended up on this board last year when I was looking for a simple projector for some simple effects (pepper's ghost, window, etc). I couldn't believe there wasn't something cheap and simple I could buy! I looked into the Chinese projectors on ebay and the pico projectors, etc, but found that any way I went, I would've needed a big setup with PC, DVD, ... So I ended up here and found some posts about UP - some good, more bad. After reading through all, I decided to take the risk and order one.

You are right in that this is just a little better than those many toy projectors (in terms of resolution and brightness), but I found that it had 2 features that I couldn't find anywhere else: weather-tight AND auto-play.

That is why I mention it here so much... I have not seen another one that can do this and as I get more into projection effects, I think about ordering more so I can have multiple effects EASY! The one thing it is lacking is some sort of DMX control.. I'm not into that, but I envision me needing that sort of control later....

OK - that's it. I'm not offeded and I don't blame you for the rant...just wanted to explain.

haha well that's good...I hate forum trolls.

Yeah I personally tested this projector and altough it isn't the most bright or greatest resolution (320x480); it does get the job done for the money.

Last year I bought a $220 projector off Alibaba.com (I was really hesitant) and couldn't be happier with it! The mini projector isn't
splash- proof, but that was fixed with some homemade houseing. At 800x600 resolution, and a brightness of 120 lumens, it was the best price for the size. The ultra projector is about as bright, but lacks in the resolution.

But for about $180, the ultra projector does work for many haunter's needs! it's just a little too expensive.

Well, I just checked out the 'ultra projector'. It doesn't fit the thread ' looking for a CHEAP PROJECTOR' for $179.00, this is a long ways off the cheap side. Mine I'm letting it go for $50.00 if one is still needed.

The ultra projector might be a nice projector, but seems a little high for a home haunter. I'm sure it depends on the individual and the use intended for it. This could be used for other purposes too.

I agree... Cheap is a VERY relaive word!

Let me add my experience with 2 others I tested before going to UltraProjector.

First I bought one of those Torpedo projectors on ebay for $50. It looks real slick and uses a standard halogen bulb. Although the resolution is exactly the same as UP (they say 960x240, but they are referring to 320x3(R,G,B)x240!!!) , it had many problems: 1. noisy fan - kind of kills the haunt effect, 2. yellow tint to video because of the halogen lamp, 3 required a PC connection and menu selections to get started.

After selling that one (actually got $70 for it used on ebay!!), I picked up an eyeclops micro projector after they went from release to clearance in a few months - for $60. That one was TERRIBLE! It had small plastic lenses so I could never get a clear focus out of it. The image was kind of yellow-blue (I guess they used a cheap LED). Lastly, the brightness was much less than the torpedo.... Stay away from this one!

The UltraProjector wasn't too much better in terms of brightness and resolutions, but the light was noticeably white, it was totally silent (no fan), and didn't require any external connections.
