Hello all!
I'm working on a costume for Further Confusion coming up at the end of January (it's a convention) and I was thinking of having something a bit better than a one-time-use item to wear. So I'm following this tutorial:
YouTube- Easy way to make a latex prosthetic / appliance
To make a latex beak. (I'm sorry, I tried to make it just a link, I don't know why it's embedding the video...)
I ran into one problem though. No one is carrying bottles of Liquid Latex right now! I went to the source, Ben Nye, and was told that they were out of stock!
I did find one place, an online theater supply store. But a $3 bottle of latex has $20 shipping for a three week ground mail out, and that's IF it's in stock. They didn't list if it was or not.
Does anyone know where to get or is selling a bottle of liquid latex? Color does not matter, so it can be clear or flesh tone or whatever. It seems stupid to pay seven times the amount of the product just to ship it. Party City doesn't have it, Jo-Ann's, Micheal's, Spencer's, even a few sex shops, no one. I would really really like to have the latex in a week or so. Anyone selling?

I've looked at all those places too, and no luck. I've tried a couple hobby stores and they just look at me like I'm crazy. I guess Halloween doesn't qualify as a hobby to most people. I've heard about places on line, but haven't been able to find any. Sorry I can't help you.

Perhaps Fright Theatre?: Fright Theatre
His site says it's by the gallon but perhaps he can sell it to you in a smaller quantity.

The big problem with getting latex this time of year is the cold weather. Frozen latex is ruined latex.
Depending on where you live, you may have trouble getting latex delivered to you.
You can try contacting TwistedVisions68, a member here. He usually has latex for sale.
Or, if you live in a warmer area, maybe Thea, the owner of FX Warehouse Inc. 386-322-5272 will ship to you.
Maybe try here, Holden's Latex Corp. | Manufacturer of Mold Making Supplies .

I have a theater makeup supply company 3 blocks from my work. But, shipping would be pricy. It would need to be mailed in insulated foam to prevent freezing.
Where are you located? There are theater supply companies in most major cities. Might be worth flipping through a yellow pages and see what you can find.

This may be really stretching the idea and it may not be at all what you can do or what you need- BUT - I have had some really good success with simply using flesh colored latex paint! Straight from the gallons at Home Depot or Lowes.
If you pour it into your mold - about 1/16th inch thickness - coating everywhere evenly - then let it sit and dry . Then another coat the same way. You can peel it off and make small parts that will coat a clay form or styrofoam piece - say a finger or nose.
Another thought is to see if maybe even the Depot can order a shipment of the pure latex for you since they ship paint in the winter without concerns of freezing. . . some painters mix it into regular paint for texture and outdoor applications.
Well - just a thought. . ." TO SERVE MAN " ... IT'S A COOKBOOK!"

I bought some off the site ebay. I think it was a little pricey.
