Menards is like Lowe's and Home Depot. I'm not sure how much market share they have in the rest of the country, but their prevalent around here (Wisconsin). They should have a web page. Also, if you can find out who manufactured the skelly I'm sure you can find out who else carried or is carrying it this year. Good luck.

Thanks for the followup, Hallow! I did find Menard's online. No luck yet searching for Halloween on their website, but I haven't been through enough to call it quits. I also sent an email to the photographer that took the pics in the magazine. Nothing back from him yet, but my hope is high that he'll provide some info of some kind.

    Thanks again,

I've been looking for the skeleton too. The magazine deleted the link, but here is another way to see it:

It glows and the eyes (they come with it) light up. Unfortunately, I have not seen it since.
My Menards has one left over from last year, and at $40. I think they only got in a couple and believe the price was $80. I haven't seen them stock any more yet this year and am doubting they have it again. It seems like Menards only goes to 50% anymore for the final clearance price and nothing more at least for the last 3 years. Personally, I am waiting for my Walgreens to get more items out and want to check out their $30 skeleton that was posted in a different thread.

I am looking online for the articulated plastic skeletons that are featured in the Better Homes and Garden Halloween tricks & treats 2011 edition. I have been google'n them all afternoon with no luck. Surely, they are for sale somewhere. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? The skeletons seem to be full height, poseable with eyes in the skulls.

Here's a link to the pic on the BHG website: http://www.bhg.com/halloween/decorat...letons/#page=2

    Thanks in advance,

If you're looking at 1, 2 and 4, those look very similar to the skeletons we keep in our Science labs, I've spent HOURS studying the darn things. They'll run you upwards of $500 for a decent one.

I too have been looking for a sturdy realistic skeleton and found this one today at Halloween City. I remembered this thread. It says Dare to Scare sound activated light up skeleton with led lighting glows in the dark. $99.99 retail. 63" tall. Distributed by Christmas International Diamond Bar CA 91765 on box. It was the only one they had. The skull is a little weird shaped but the skeleton is very sturdy compared to the crappy ones I have seen here locally. The arms are ball and socket, elbows are ratcheting, and hands are ball and socket so they all stay in place, even upright. The head turns and jaw is spring loaded. The glow in the dark is weak, but I bought him to switch out the skull to a talking Boris and paint anyway. The legs are rigid to stand upright. He was discounted so I'm thinking discontinued. Too bad since he is very cool and well made!

My friend Dok found a bunch! Here's what he says:

Halloween City (the seasonal Halloween arm of Party City) has them on sale for $69.99. There are lots of locations; go to halloweencity.com to find one and also print out a 20% off coupon while you're there.

The only brand I can find on it is Dare to Scare. It's a bit unusual: For one thing, it has motion-activated lights and sounds, which are interesting, but... well, I'm ambivalent about them. Also, it seems like they were designed to hold a tray of some sort (at least, that's what the patent application says), so they have a VERY strong steel tube system that runs up through each leg and across the pelvis, with a hidden "T" that the spine slots into. VERY stable and easy to set up, but a little heavier than I had imagined.

If you are wondering whether they will be in a box or in a clear plastic bag or just hanging in the store, I can tell you they are in a big ol' box, 16" x 11" x 23". The skelly breaks down really easily for storage, and fits right back in the box with no hassle.

We're talking about the cheaper-looking plastic-y ones with eyeballs. They are unusual because they look lightweight but with the ribs separated, they have a realism that Bluckys don't have.

But just to be clear: if anyone wants the other kind of skeleton in the article, the kind found in a Science Lab (but to be used for Halloween purposes), they shouldn't have to pay $500- they should get a 4th quality Bucky for $160, like these:
