I'm not saying the '52 is ugly, I do like it a lot. And what I want to do with any hearse I buy is get the whole thing painted in a deep, deep orange. On a cloudy day, it might look black, but when the light hits it, you can see the rich, dark orange come through.

I'd also like to redo the interior with some deep red fabric. Since I know I want to do these things, I keep thinking one of the '41s might be a better choice, because I won't have to remove a lot to rebuild. But, like I keep saying, I just don't know if I have the skill or patience to rebuild an entire engine and transmission.

Still, I keep thinking about it.

Well, here's a new twist. I was basing the length of the hearse off the 75 chassis, which is 18' 10". That's pretty long! But I just found out the hearse was built on the 75 Commercial chassis, which is 21' 1" long. I was worried about fitting the hearse before, but now I really don't know where I'd put it! Gonna take some measurements of the side of the house and see if I ca do something there! Problem is, I currently have a giant boulder and a 6x6 shed there. The shed can be moved, but the giant boulder can't.

Okay, I went out and measured the side of the house., If I clean out the weeds and junk, then lay down some weed fabric and cover the area with gravel, I should be able to park a 22 ft long hearse on the side of the house.

The downside to this plan is that I would have to remove the 14 ft tall holly tree we have on the side of our house, and I just don't know if the wife will go for that.

    I have a fantastic uncle!

I have an uncle who has been fixing up cars as a hobby for the past 35 years. (He's fond on Studebakers.)

He's been advising me here and there and told me that if I want to go with the 1941 Cadillac in Oklahoma, he would be willing to go down with his trailer and pick it up for me!!!

I can't believe his generosity, although I bet in part, he's just excited someone else wants to restore a classic car. I'm sad to say his own son (my cousin) spends most of his time away from work playing World of Warcraft.

I'll definitely pay him for his gas and time, but $500 is a lot better than a transport company charging $1,200.

Wish I would have had an uncle like that. It was quite a sticker shock for me. Prob. costs even more now with the gas prices. I like the older styles myself but, couldn't afford to get one done now. I'm having enough probs. with the 70 Torino Covert. I have. I've got so much money into it now, I could have bought a new one. And it doesn't look much different from when I got it.

If you put it next to your house, make sure you have security lights over there. They are prone to attract young vandals.

I'm hoping to paint the hearse a really dark, dark metallic orange, so in low light, it looks black, but when the light hits it, you see the orange.

If I go with the 1952, which seems to be my better option by far, I'd like to paint the hearse and add curtains to the windows. Right now, it's a "combo" vehicle, which means it can be either a hearse or an ambulance (no landau irons). I'd like to put curtains in the rear windows to help with the hearse look.

If you really wanted to I bet closing in the back windows with sheet metal wouldn't be that big of problem for someone who knows what they are doing. That would give it more of the look you are going for, correct?
