Hello all. So we wanted some type of border to the front yard and had a pretty small budget. Most of our stuff is DIY and re-purposed too which is always fun.

So for our chain fence here are the supplies I used
    1. The posts are made from 2" Black ABS from Lowes. Had them pre-cut 10' length into 3 equal sections approx 40"
    2. Metal fence posts 3' (Green) from Lowes to support the black ABS.
    3. Plastic Skulls - Have found them cheap at Kmart and Target and small party shops.
    4. 6' length of plastic chain also found at most any Halloween supply
    5. Snap in small light sockets or window candles from Christmas stuff
    6. 7watt night light bulbs
    7. Black Ty-Wraps
    8. 6' extension cords

    For tools
    1. Cordless drill.
    2. 2 3/8" hole saw
    3. 1 1/4" hole saw
    4. Cutters for Ty-Wraps
    5. Sledge for driving green metal posts

Drill 2 3/8" hole for post to be inserted

Drill 1 1/4" hole fro snap in light (1" or 1 1/8" would work well also)

Screw in bulb to socket. Feed cord through small hole and out the bottom and then snap in light. Feed any exces cord back into Skull so there are no cords outside the Skull or post

I attached the plastic chain with large Ty-Wraps and tightened them up good. I used the chail also to keep the Skull from sinking too low on the pipe and having the pipe block the light from the front. In some cases the hole was just right so the space between the jaw and the pipe would be filled with the chain and kind of lock it all together.

Now you can drop it over a green post anywhere or any other rigid post. The green ones from the sore for wire fencing worked well because it allowed plenty of room for the cord to fall through to the botom and out.

The whole fence actually from last year. Pictures of assembly are from this year. Finishing the yard on the other side of the driveway. Hopefully I will get out my tripod and get a good night pix and post it up.

Here is a bad close up of the first ones I made before I had found the snap in sockets and was getting all the window candles out of the Christmas boxes. Just drilled 2 1/4" holes in the side of the pipe and secured the elecric candle.

    Thank You,

The best place I found for the snap in sockets was here:http://www.acehardwareoutlet.com/Pro...px?SKU=3002201
    6 for $17.99

You can also google them. The part number is 23311-51. I also had luck searching for "cord and socket". Amazon has a brown cord version with a switch.

One thing I forgot to mention if anyone actually tries to make this is that when you drill the large hole in the bottom go very slow as the hole saw tends to bite and bind quickly so slow speed is good. And this sounds wrong but once the pilot drill goes through I actually had good results running the drill in reverse as it still cut the soft plastic but did not bind.

That's awesome! I'm constantly returning daily looking to see what people have come up with
