Ok folks this is my second tutorial, my other being the "Life size prop pvc frame". Since I had already built this prop before joining the forum, it is not a full blown tutorial but the pics and the video should give you enough info

The materials and measurements I am reciting are to build one just like this one. I lucked out because the tv and end table that I used seemed to be tailored made for my water heater cardboard box dimensions

But as with any build, modify to suit your needs and the materials you have to work with

    Materials:

Water Heater Carboard box : 59" tall, 21 and 1/4 wide and 19 inches deep

TV: 15" diagonal screen, 13 and 1/2 inches tall, 17 inches wide and 16 inches deep

    End Table: 18 x 18 and 17 inches tall

Compact DVD player measure 10 and 1/2 x 9 inches

    Grey paint spray

    Exacto Knife

    Utlility Knife

    Grey Duct Tape

    Corrogated pieces of cardboard

    Glue

Took water heater box and made some angle cuts at the top, not sure what degrees, think it was a 15 or 30 degree angle
and taped it up with duct tape inside and out side

Now for the furnace door, I measured the height of the end table and measured the size of the tv screen, I drew what would be the size of the screen from the top of the end table towards the top of the furnace, I used the exacto knife to cut out the "bars"
Then I used pieces of corrogated cardboard to use as trim around the furnace door. I'm probably not explaining my self right so here are the pictures in sequence

I burned a video of fire unto a dvd and I also added the Nightmare on Elm St theme to disc

so you got your tv on top of end table, you got your compact dvd player hooked up to tv ready to play video of fire

I spray painted the box and then when dry I just slipped the box carefully over the tv and stand and ther you have it

Hope this is a good springboard for your own furnace, here are the rest of pics and a video of it in action

Thanks LT....just realized how many different applications you can go with this, I initially wanted something shorter and wider. With a 32 to 40 inch tv, would have looked nice...or maybe like a video of a zombie trying to get out, hmmm...

Yes there's a lot of ways to integrate video into your haunt / decorations. If we have a Halloween party, we cover the entertainment center as Freddy's furnace. The cool thing is that the remotes work through the scene setters. I'd leave it up all year long, but the wife won't allow it

I use a vid projector onto Gauze curtains at the front of our Haunt each year. Hard to see in the pick, but that's a burning pumpkin vid we used.

Here's my Freddy's Furnace - just a Scene Setter covered PCV frame with an electric kettle of fire in front of a skinless head lifter.
