Every fence needs columns whether its for the entrance or as tie-ins between the fence sections.
Last year I had an idea for columns that could be made cheap and fast. Then be put out in the recycle bin instead of taking up storage space.
Materials needed:
12 pack soda boxes or 24 pack beer/soda boxes
masking tape - 2" wide works well
paint
Combine 2 -12 packs lengthwise on top of each other using masking tape. Be sure to mask over the voids between boxes.
After creating 2 sets of two, tape these together and set aside (1 block). Continue making block sets until the desired height is reached.
Tape the blocks together with the masking tape to form the column
A 24 pack box is the same dimension as the 2 - 12 packs stacked. you only need to combine two 24 pack boxes side by side to create the same dimension as the 4-12 pack blocks.
Roll on the oops paint tainted to your preferred flavor (latex provides a little weather protection). I used a kinda black for mine (what I had on hand)
I rolled on grey for that worn /deteriorated look.
Cut a flap in the bottom two boxes and add weight in them once it is in place.

very neat, simple and cheap...!
