Looking back at the pics I do see that the flash washed out a lot of color and they do appear fairly gray. They do have some brown tones and "dirty" appearance. Here are some close up pics of it, I took off the flash so you can see more of the true color.
I was also inspired by Pumpkinrot's beautiful work, so they do have a little more "darkness" I guess.
