so I promised someone a tutorial on making realistic blood the can goo up a corpse nicely. this recipe was developed after reading numerous webpages on spfx and theater makeup etc. etc. etc...
I took several of the most common elements and tweaked them and combined till I came up with this. Hope it helps.
this is actually a two for one tutorial for anyone who wants to make realistic looking costume blood that is digestible.
things you will need:
Corn syrup ( light )
red food coloring
Blue food coloring
Plain gelatin (NOT JELLO!!)
ok this is real simple
first we need to make our blood
take your corn syrup
add 20 drops of red food coloring and 4 drops of blue
per 1/2 cup cornsyrup
stir together with a fork.
and there you have it .
ok now this works great for costume and prosthetics but sadly takes forever to dry so I needed something that would set quick and make it look wet still
so....
open you gelatin and add to a microwave safe dish
add water per the instructions ( a little bit less is ok just make sure it is enough to cover the gelatin powder)
microwave until melted ( my microwave does this in 20 sec. on high)
add enough of your fake blood to color the gelatin DARK.
smear where you want it with a paintbrush.
you need to work quick because as it cools it sets however, you can simply re melt it as needed.
just remember all of this is water soluable so it is NOT waterproof. seal it after it is dried if this is an outdoor prop.
this is the same stuff I used for the blood on my zombie heads last year. if you want to see how it looks they are in my folder.
hope this helps.
