Ok. I just looked again and I saw the head and the axe. I still kind of like it, though. Tree was probably just getting back at somebody who'd come to the forest to cut down all his friends. You can't really blame him.

oh my goodness yes you should have! everytime i see this i think "lord of the flies" the scene where the boys sever the pigs head and place it one a stick as they dance around it in chaos and blood.
