Teddy Bear Killer
In 1903 a twelve year old boy named Thomas Kelly the only son in a family of eight children, would often entertain himself by playing pranks upon his seven younger sisters’. He would take their Christmas dolls and cut their hair or pull limbs off of them, just to hear his sisters’ cry and scream. However this year was different, it was the first year that all of the girls received Teddy Bears as a gift. Thomas was envious and really wanted a Teddy Bear of his own as well.
Thomas went to his father and pleaded for his very own Teddy Bear and was met with recoil. According to his father “Teddy Bears were only meant for girls and young men had absolutely no need for such things”. Thomas felt singled out and betrayed. A rage stronger and deeper than he could have ever known began to fester inside of him.
Thomas began to change and it wasn’t for the better. He would from time to time get caught by his father playing with one of the Teddy Bears that he had taken from his sisters. Each and every time that Thomas was caught he would receive a battery of cruel words and quick stinging hits, as a reminder from his father. He was often told to stop playing with dolls, just man up and to quit being such a little girl.
The rage inside of him built upon itself and into an uncontrollable monster. Thomas started mutilating every Teddy Bear that he came upon. He would decapitate, dismember, gut and gouge the eyes out of them. Thomas thought to himself that if he couldn’t have a bear, no one would. Of course the mutilated bears were always repaired or replaced and this angered Thomas even more.
One summer evening the family was enjoying supper out on the front lawn. One of the girls let out a gut wrenching terrifying scream. She was crying so hysterically that everyone’s attention was drawn to her immediately. She sobbed uncontrollably and beckoned everyone into the house.
In the parlor at the bottom of the staircase, were seven decapitated Teddy Bears. It was a haunting sight, each of them in a line sitting side by side with the heads lying in their laps. The eyes of each Bear were missing and what looked like blood had stained the stuffing at each neck. At once father turned looking for his only son and the sisters followed suit.
Thomas hid in the dark shadows and waited silently for each of his sisters to find him. One by one he slashed and stabbed, killing each one. Finally coming out of the shadows, covered with blood and wielding a machete, with tears in his eyes he slowly walked toward his father. His father could do nothing but stand there confused and stare in disbelief. With one precision stroke, Thomas had killed his father. A yell came from his mother behind him. He turned fast, and with a swinging strike at the speed of a viper his mother lay dead.
Thomas in shock, stood there in the darkness for what seemed an eternity. Suddenly realizing what he had done he turned to run away. He tripped over his slain father, falling on the machete piercing him into the stomach and through his back. Thomas was dead. The police dubbed the case, “Teddy Bear Killer”.
On that day an evil hatred was born. To this day from that horrific moment in time, this has been forever documented into the case history of mass murderers. Wherever a Teddy Bear is found mutilated, you can be assured that the spirit of The Teddy Bear Killer is hiding silently somewhere in the dark shadows and waiting with his machete to mutilate his next chosen victim.
