That doesn't seem quite fair considering the amount of members overseas and in Canada.

What if they were to agree to pay the additional shipping and handling themselves if they won? At least then they could still compete. There's a lot of talent out there and it's nice to see what others can do.

that is a very good suggestion pod. i know meeps was so tickled to enter it's a shame not to be able to in the future. but i can see where the prize and shipping combined could be rather a lot for a sponser. with weight and size the overseas contestants could see if they wanted to participate by paying the difference.

Many previous sponsors and future sponsors do not ship out of the USA due to cost, packaging requirements, customs issues and other reasons.

Many sponsors require contests to be USA only for them to sponsor.

For now, the sponsored contests will have to remain USA only. It may change in the future, but not at this time.

    Thanks!

I dont think people care that much about winning something on this board. Its the honor of winning thats more important. At least let all compete and let it be known that prizes will be forfeited if not in the United States. Isn't that the the only fair thing to do?

Yes. absolutely. Every member that wants to should certainly post an "un-official entry". If they do not qualify to officially enter the official contest, anyone can participate without actually entering. There is some great talent on the forum. We want to see what you can do.

However, the actual voting can only include those who are qualified to enter.

maybe, depending on the prize and the sponser, some might still be willing to include overseas. maybe at the beginning of each contest it could be posted. and maybe a gift certificate instead. a lot would like to order stuff but don't because of shipping. if they got the item free and just had to pay shipping, maybe that would work.

Sorry. This is not in the best interest of all.

The contests will be USA only when prizes are offered.

The majority of any contests and prizes conducted through through the US are limited to US contestants for many reasons.

The many sponsors that I have contacted in the past have made it clear about USA only. The terms of this contest being worldwide was an oversite on my part.

While your suggestions are appreciated and I understand your points, this criteria is not likely to change anytime soon. Especially due to the plans for some of the great future contests.

    Thanks for understanding.

Still.......I do like the idea of a cift certificate. Then the shipping could be paid on our part.

Well, I tried. Guess I'll sit on the sidelines form now on.
