I virtually own the server (own it right down to the root, hardware and everything). Server is maintained and monitored 24/7 by a national hosting company.
On this side of the fence, 3 of us watch the server and respond as needed.

In the beginning of May we cancelled a site that heavily engaging in spam, hence the downtime issues. Since then, clean as a whistle.
If anyone is interested I will post more.
Thinking 500 mb of storage, maybe a 1 gig. Prefer that you host your video's off site (as most do already), pictures are fine. Video files get really busy around August through November.
