The IOGeek is a newly released (8/2006) prop and sound controller. Add surprise to your guests, but not just something that moves, with something you can command so the timing is just right....
It's worth looking into if you are thinking of adding animation special effects with sound to your haunt.

The system is controlled by the PC but interfaces to your props with the provided interface box.

This device does not pump sound to independent props? Reading the description, and if I read it right, it can play 5 sound files at one time, but it will only pump it through one speaker?

That is only partially correct. It does let you overlay sounds from the PC like background thunder, screams, music - all at the same time and these do play through your stereo PC speakers.

You CAN use one of the relay contacts to connect sound to a speaker in the prop that could be sound from the PC. - OR - you can get an inexpensive sound device, for instance, one with thirty seconds of recording time, and turn it on/off (or even power it) with the IOGeek.

The IOGeek is about system level coordination of your props... The card and software let you switch on or off whatever you want, under PC control.

Last year we played the sound from our 5 channel program through a set of PC speakers in the bushes and the effect was really terrific. This year we added the IOGeek hardware.

For home haunts while you can put a speaker in the prop, in some ways NOT having it in the prop was even better because the sound, not being from a prop is even more spooky, like a thrown voice. It's easier, cheaper, etc.

You can order one with a discount (until 9/15/06) here: IOGeek Be sure to download the Users Manual and read it before you buy.

Also look for it from resellers of haunt supplies.
