Down here I would use any thing that would not absorb and hold water if it is to be left outside. It would just end up moldy. Bubble wrap is pretty cheap and goes a long way.
So many ideas....Too little storage space

I am one of the lucky ones who have room to store their "bodies" so I use a combination of items. By the way, the pool noodle substitute is foam pipe insulation. People in snowy areas should be able to get this year round. There are a couple of types in varying thicknesses.
I use chicken wire, CLOSED cell foam (sheds out water instead of holding it) and sometimes spray foam on the chicken wire to keep the shape I want it in. I've crushed many a chest I just made 'cause I'm a klutz. It took some experimenting before I came up with what works for me. My wife just no longer asks any more about blood from the chicken wire, or why there is spray foam in my hair - HM
You said you wanna what? with who? I don't think so!

I used plastic trash bags stuff with newspaper. To hold it to the frame I used duck tape or wire ties.

I use newspaper and then wrap it with stretch plastic wrap. You can get it at Home Depot and one roll goes a long way.

Apparently this type is even biodegradable.
