I have recently picked up quite a few good masks from garage and yard sales. I want to keep them in usable condition fo many years. How do I do it. My oldest mask I own is sticking together and disintegrating. How do I prevent this?? Please help![]()

The thing about latex masks is at some point, they're just gonna deteriorate into nothingness unless you're the Smithsonian & have airtight, perfect lighting & temperature controlled rooms.
But what you can do is keep 'em outta the extreme temps. That means no attic, no basement, garage, unless it's a temperature controlled garage, finished basement or attic w/heat & AC.
Never store 'em in cardboard boxes either. One flood or leaky pipe will ruin them, keep 'em in Rubbermaid or the like, preferably not the clear ones.
Keep them in shape by keeping them on foam heads or keeping foam in them or stuffing them w/paper or acid free paper.
I also store mine in their own plastic bags (just garbage bags), especially the expensive ones. The ones I got from Death Studios come in plastic garbage bags & I just store them in those every year & they've been just fine.Roger Clyne & the Peacemakers, the best damn little band you should be listening to!

Baby powder them after use. Keep the in a cool dry place.

I just throw them into a clear rubber maid tote and put them in the corner of my basement.
Some are over 10years old and still going strong. I think I had 2 of the really cheap masks die, and I mean they were really cheap quality.

Yeah, the cheapie masks are the worst about that, even when you keep them stored properly sometimes they still end up a gummy mess.
