    That really depends on what you are building, what pose your going for, and how heavy your material will be on the frame (ie. burlap soaked with monster mud). I think if you look around the How-To's long enough you'll see that some use minimal structural support and others use a lot. I don't think your going to get a straight answer on this one. Sorry.

    Mr. Chicken is right www.hauntproject.com is awesome! I am working on my first one also. I am doing a headless bride. The only prob I have is trying to find out what would be best to use to protect paper mache from the rain. Any Ideas?

    sorry i shoulda been more detailed in my description. i saw someones reaper with burlap an monster mud and it looked fantastic, but im more on the side of a gate keeper sort of guy in my yard. thats what id really like to do.

    I can really recommend Chris Hansen's 'Scratch Built Corpse' DVD - it's now only $14.95 and his technique for creating teeth was worth that amount of money on it's own!

    Here is a link to the Scary Guy's Kicking Man sight. This was the first PVC armature that I built, and it really lets you get a feel for how to put these together. Once you have the basics, it is easy to modify, adapt, and come up with other ways of building props.

    The important thing- buy lots of fittings! I hate having to run for fittings, so I pickup a good assortment every time I start another build.
