Ok, so I'm very new to prop building and painting and pretty much anything handy. I bought 3 small cans of exterior latex paint yesterday for several props that will be both inside and outside. I also live in an apartment, and will have to store the props in my bedroom. Which leads me to my question.

I just read the warning label indicating the it contains a chemical that is known to cause cancer!!

    1. Can I used exterior paint for things inside safely?

    2. Should I avoid using the exterior paint since I have to store the props I paint in my bedroom? And just go buy interior paint?

    3. Can I use interior paint on things that will be outside just for a few weeks in October?

    4. Do you have any other suggestions?

Any and all help/feedback would be appreciated. Thanks so much once again for your help.

The main dif of ext to int is the paint has more UV protection & color stabilizers & will take more abuse to rain & sun. Int can be used outside if controlled, sun for a few days or couple weeks will not destroy it.Ext is fine inside. ALL paints have something in it that are possible cancer causing,...... I use ext paints on some of my int jobs as the area gets a lot of sun inside & it has helped fade problems......... Either way your fine. The secret is prep, a good primer 2 coats, will lock it down & 2 coats of paint will pretty much make it bullet proof for your needs ! & let it "air out" for a bit before you store it inside to help the smell.
(Painters trick-tip) a small amount of vanilla extract for the grocery store, will help kill the smell especially if your using oil base paint inside !!
When you look in the mirror at midnight,....what looks back at you.........

Thanks Dark Lord. I'll go ahead and use the external paint for now.
