I see a few people here use it. I have tried but still seems complicated. Any good tutorials out there? or any haunters want to give one?

Google actually has some very good basic tutorials on the sketchup site, thats what I used. I have some examples of what I've done with it in my photo albums, I'll gladly give any advice I can.

It can be frustrating at times, but I'm currently putting my whole haunt into it, house and everything say I can lay out and plan everything in advance and know that it will fit

I was in the exact same boat as you Billman. I had downloaded SketchUp but just didn't know where to start! There are TONS of helpful videos on YouTube to help you get started. Though be warned - I found SketchUp to be VERY ADDICTING!

Here are a few drawings I did last year for my haunt. I had everything to a T to make sure everything fit correctly. Sure plywood is only 5/8 of an inch thick, but add about 10 of those together and your whole plan can be thrown off!

You can do everything ahead of time to figure out measurements and save yourself some time!

Hubby's been suggesting that I learn Sketchup for a few years now. I'm okay at drawing so a pencil and paper have always been my first choice when I want to conceptualize something. I can really see how Sketchup can make laying out a haunt very useful however and you guys have done some wonderful projects illustrating just that. Have to be honest in that the learning curve time has always prevented me from sticking with the tutorials online.

Zach, the sketches of your haunt are great. Just seeing the kitchen, bathroom, nursery brings back vivid images in my mind of seeing your haunt video. Was the red room the butcher's room? (I think that was your haunt.) BTW when you click on your name and go to the link "Visit Front Yard Fright's home page" it no longer works and needs updating.

Empty W, I've been following your work on the shack this year here on the forum. The mausoleum and coffin sketches are very cool and you really do have the ability to include a lot of detail.

    Thanks for all the inspiration.
