Default I need ideas for paint

My wife had wanted me to add a fortune teller setup this year so i made up the box to hold the lcd and everything when she changed her mind and now wants a tribute to Michael Jackson so ok whatever it's no big deal only 2hr's of wood cutting and what not lol

so now i have this big old box made out of that cheap wood (looks like a bunch of wood chips glued together)

so anyway i need to paint this guy so that it'll look like something
I was thinking maybe something like a crept or something

please tell me there is another way for me to make this look like stone
i spent 60 total on the wood for my chair arch and this box and about 120 on that darn stone paint to cover the arch

it looks great but there is no way i can spend another 100 to cover this box
Please give me some ideas i need to have this finished off tomorrow

use latex paint then use fleckstone spray paint over it to make a stone look.. try a craft store for the fleckstone.

Can you just make the box look like a box? Meaning, paint a few black lines on it (to look like panels of wood like a shipping crate), then some red paint (spraypaint + stencil) and label it.

Not quite sure I understand your "theme"...Is your haunt a MJ theme? If so, label it something like "SEQUENCE GLOVES - PROP. OF M. JACKSON" or whatever.

IF NOT, still paint it like a crate and label it something that fits your gig.

ok this is what i'm talking about
sorry for not having pictures but this is more or less the box i built

only i'm using an LCD from the top down playing the thriller video LOL

i'm carving letters out of the bottom part sorta like a headstone
(maybe something like MJ forever)

I added a 6"h x 6"d step all around the bottom

i'm making the top step in about 4" all around and

i'm thinking about having it point upward at the top and
maybe putting in a fan with the fake flames

i have the jacket glove shoes white socks and all i'm going to somehow decorate it with

Just really trying to figure out a way of hiding the fact that it's just a wood box you know well anyway here's the link

and i'll post up real pictures when i get home tonight
Thanks again

Default Ideas for paint

Have you ever heard of Monster Mud? It is 5 parts joint compound : to one part exterior latex paint. Apply it with a paint brush, trowell, or your hands. I haven't personally tried the stuff yet, but lots of people use it to create statuary or stone effects. I hope this helps.

Maybe using styrofoam to add edging to give the box a 3d effect. Maybe some fake columns up the sides etc. Anything to break up the exterior view of the box.

I think the monster mud is the way to go for this. Had the same problem trying to make my plywood tank look like metal. I had to first change the grain of the plywood and monster mud is perfect for that. Then you can use your stone paint that you bought and should look great. Here's a tutorial I made for changing the texture of wood: Painting Faux Metal - Steampunk

Thanks for the info I tried to make some monster mud and it worked pretty well I just wish the grey paint i chose would have help it's color............

by the time i mixed it all up and it set and dried the hole thing came out too light
but i'm going to try and darken it up so with the water and black paint tonight

if it doesn't work maybe i'll go buy some marble paint and just make the whole thing white LOL

Wish me luck
