    So, I found this very nasty electric blanket in my basement that I was just going to throw away, but then I realized that it had two dimmers on it to control the heat, but I wasn't sure if just replacing the special heated wire with copper wire would work to make them light dimmers or not. I don't know if anybody's ever tried this, or tried to even make flicker devices out of them, but it would be really great if anybody knew anything more about the electronics inside than I do, otherwise it'll just be trial and error.

    I can post some photos of it at some point if that would help.

    Also, if nothing else, it might be neat to try and turn it into a foam tool.

    take a look at the ratings on it and compare them to a real dimmer from Lowes or HD or ACE or whatever. Wal Mart has probably got a few...not saying that you have to buy it to try it, just bring it in and compare it...best way to tell if it will work for your application.
