Planning a Vampire Ball for this year and I want the entrance to the ballroom to be a spooky cemetary complete with tombstones, fog, and a horse-drawn hearse. But I also want spooky trees. Big tall ones. I have no idea where to begin to create these boo-tiful trees.......Does anyone have any ideas or a tutorial on how to do it?
Fangs in advance for your help.![]()

Aranamuerta has a wonderful tutorial on making a Halloween Tree.

Correction: They USED TO HAVE a wonderful tutorial. Now they just have some pics of the final product, but even that should be great inspiration!"Well I guess they were wrong then, weren't they?" I-gor

Another great Halloween Tree I saw was at the AmScan booth at the HauntShow here in Vegas earlier this year. I snuck a few pics of it and will try to remember to post them here. Basically, it looked like a few pieces of copper tubing bundled together at the trunk and spread out for the branches, then randomly covered with 3" wide ribbon (yes, like from the fabric store), thick hemp rope, and leafy vines, all spray-painted flat black. I know it sounds odd, but it looked very cool.

We were thinking of doing something similar but sliding Fun Noodles (pool toys) over the copper tubes first, to give the trunk & branches bulk and us something to carve.

If you can get your hands on some Army camo netting, it works great!!
I covered an entire room ceiling with it and turned it into the enchanted forest (hung 'bugs' from it and had twinkling lights inside the netting for a firefly look)
Here it is in the daytime during my sons birthday party (and a Bucs game)

And at night (though with the flash). And my fake ficus in the pic

WOW! What a great idea! Aaaaand, if you had one of Aranamuerta's tree trunks... Well, I can only imagine! Hmmm, might be an idea for the Halloween basement.

I was lucky enough to have the stuff given to me (2 sections, 25 by 20 ft), so I have no idea how easy it is to find it around besides Army-Navy stores. After covering the ceiling in black weed mat it became very dark in there... so just be wary of how much you use and cover!

They're mason jars hanging by twine. I made some labels that said "Poison Apple Sundries Fairy Traps" (Poison Apple Sundries, Inc was the mock-company name I used on all my witch jars.
There were 3 or 4 jars and in one of them I had a small flicker light, so it looked like a 'caught' fairy. That one had a lid on it... others were just open topped.
Wish I had better photos...
