My 20 year old son is trying to make an animated witch stirring a cauldron. He is using a PVC frame for neck, shoulders, trunk, hips and legs all covered with chicken wire. He is trying to use coat hanger wire for jointed arms which I told him may not work well. He saw on the internet where an old record turn table in the cauldron could be used for the stirring motion. He wants to use a fog machine for the appearance of smoke. I was concerned that this could lead to condensation and possibly short out the turn table. I've never tried anything like this before and really don't have the time. Any detailed instructions would be appreciated if they're not too complex.

Stirring Witches are great. My old girl is built of a 1/2" PVC frame, and she's a little "unstable". She sways back-to-front ever so slightly while stirring. The very first time I ever fired her up, my little girl was standing right beside her. As soon as the Witch started stirring, my daughter was so startled she backed up and tripped over a Tombstone! It was hilarious. Check out the Monster List here:

Our own Cauldron is a lot taller than the one this guy uses. Our set-up is at about 45 RPM, it looks really good. The project is not as complicated as it seems, it's a good one for a neophyte, and remember, these things look way better after dark!!Wolfman

I guess I was wrong about the coat hangers. He seems to be doing everything right, although he may have gotten ahead of himself. He has already built the frame and added the chicken wire. On the web site, they added the chicken wire later. I've saved the link. If I get time, I may even give him a hand.
Thanks, Wolfman

Make sure all the joints are secure, and make sure you make the turn table adjustable to the hand movment so then you don't have to go back and try to fix it.
GOOD LUCK!
