Cannons stained, just have to nail wood wheels on sides(both on casters), and add thick deck rope..

Here's what I did while waiting for the stain to dry...
http://www.qsl.net/k7awa/chest1.jpg
I just replaced my old 12'x30" workbench so I was able to use the heavy MDF of the old bench for sides/bottom of the chest and sides of the lid. I used 8, 30" 1x2s for the top of the lid. Sanded, stained, I'll use Stanley door hinges on the back of the lid and add handles to the sides and urethane it in a couple days after the stain completely dries. I'll use a gate hasp for the chest lock tho I thot of using the router to cut a skeleton key lock opening in the front and put a small alum. plate painted black for the lock 'body'.

Ship wheel sked to arrive UPS Wednesday.. I'll start the deck then.
Oh, found a good link for air cannons made out of foam..

'had the pix from HalloweenGuys post(1st pg) to go from in my head... goes right along with the voices
..being MDF tho it's heavy.. estimate abt 25 lbs empty
I was looking thru other posts on props and saw one abt using concrete readiforms cut in half for the lid, coulda made the box a lot smaller building from the lid down. Oh well, makes a great kids toybox.. I think either leather straps or just upholestry brads around the frame..
The heat finally broke here so I can now work outside on the deck framing. Saw a post abt using PVC for the mast, going from 4" to 3" to 2" to taper the mast. Booms are 2" PVC lashed to the mast. Thot of carpet tube but if it rains(Monsoon season now), that wont hold up to the moisture...

Looks nice Bob! My wheel came in finally, missing 4 of the 8 peg handles, but seller said they will send them. So with the wheel finally here, constructon on the deck begins.
I'm debating going with a teetering deck, built on a small gimbal. I will go with either motorized or hand movement. Angle iron frame box(8'x10'x3') with 1"x4" pine planks for deck and sides... well.... maybe next year
'Was just in St Augustine this week visiting my folks, town has a lot of nautical shops there so I stopped in for ideas and to price out sail material.. told one owner what I was planning to build, she said she'd loan me a real 12'x14' box sail, but it was antique so I had to take care of it. told her I wasnt 'local'. She said I could look for black flat bed sheets, (Walmart etc), could sew thin panel reinforments for appearance.. fray the edges, etc..
Getting several carpet tubes for masts/booms and can bang out crows nest today. Will post construction pix.. Well, off to Home Depot and some carpet shops.. Aaaaarrrrrghhh!Capt. Jack's YouTube 3-axis skull video page

Which reminds me.. Bob, did you get ur wheel from seller Sussen in CT? Looking at mine.. was made in India, has a lot of cardboard stuck to the varnish, lot of nicks and dings and not really well made... did you have better luck?
