    Hi Everyone
I am not sure where to start or what to call it so I will just fumble out what I can. I want to build a prop of a person that has movement at the waist and arms as well. I want to get a talking head on this thing as well. I was thinking of making him it of steel tubing. Has anyone done anything like this before or can steer me down the right path?

I'm not sure what all you want it to do, but here is my pneumatic hangman. He is built all out of steel. If you have any questions, I'll gladly try to help you out.

    Hi Diabolik
Nice job on the hangman! What I wanted to do was have a character that is free standing with some movement at the waist, arm (s) and head. I wanted to do a zombie pirate character. I was wondering if anyone has done something similar. I was hoping to use pneumatics for the movements

I have about 20 cylinders lying around myself, but haven't had the time to get into anything new since I finished the Hangman. I am actually exploring a multi-axis pneumatic person myself. I was either going to do a bucky in a casket, or coming up out of a barrel. As far as building him out of metal, it is not that expensive, and it lasts forever. If you have access to a welder, chop saw, and a decent drill press, you'll be set. One thing I did learn with the hangman, if you want to quiet down the mechanical noise of the prop, you will be best served to use some sort of bushings or bearings at the joints. Otherwise you'll get some clanking. My guy is pretty much covered in foam and that helps a good deal too. I have some ideas for a rotating waist and independently moving arms. I'll try to draw something quick up and post you a picture. It might give you some ideas.
