Hello.
I've done some searching and have found some good threads but none that have matched what I'm looking for.
I want to get 1 or 2 large pieces of cheap thin plywood from Home Depot and cut it up to make a full sized coffin.
I remember seeing a thread where someone posted how to cut the wood with the dimensions I'd need.
The top half will be hinged I think. I have a really scary vampire mask that I want to be showing.
I do have other threads were it shows me how to distress it and tweak it but no dimensions.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks!

Got the 15 boards from Lowes last night. This is a good example of how home projects differ from Halloween. Like always I specifically went for the best pieces of wood. They actually had several that were pretty beaten up that would have made the coffin i'm planning on making look even better.

Oh well. Old habits die hard.

I forgot to take pictures.....

I followed the instructions, kinda.
The top and bottom pieces by themselves look great.
I could probably use them alone as props.
As far as getting a traditional creepy looking coffin using fencing is a cheap effective way to go.
Attaching the "body" pieces to the bottom was tricky because it didn't really explain what I was supposed to screw into what.
I had to unscrew and move things around quite a few times.
But I ended up with nice solid connections.
Halfway through I realized that this sucker was going to be too big and too heavy for me to move around by myself, which is not an option.
The pressure treated wood made it even heavier. Next year it will be a lot lighter after it dries.
So I only did one board in height rather than 2 like it said.
Still looks great.
I hinged the top and now I'm ready to stick a skeleton in there or something.
Now I need to make it look evil.

I also made this one this year. I used this http://scarefx.com/images/coffin_pro...ruction_06.jpg from the original to see where the boards go & this http://diycoffin.com/images/CoffinPlans.pdf to get a better idea of the finished look.
The 2nd one has better porportions at the bottom.
Post pictures of the finished prop.Scaring the crap out of people since 1993.

Looks great!
I ended up using two dog collar choke chains at the top and bottom to keep the lid up.
Did you find it too deep for whatever prop you're going to put in there?
I only made mine half height but it still looks good.
I also got one of those $7 strobe light sound effect boxes from Target and velcro'd it to the lid so it strobes down on my vampire figure.

For this year it will be just the coffin without a prop in it.
I did not consider the depth when building it, I will have to look into that..thanks for the tip.
I had an old belt laying around that I used for the lid & lid handle.
The dog chains sounds cool, I had not though of that one.Scaring the crap out of people since 1993.
