here's what I made... –

I made this from a left over garden fence. I forget how much it cost a while back but we originally got it at lowe's so you can check out their website and look at pricing.

Here's what it looked like before.

So I just took the boards out of the wire and spray painted them black with spots of green here and there to give them that aged look and then just screwed them together and added some moss to creep it up a bit. I made some of them crooked so it looked old and weathered. That's just one idea you might like to try. Hope this helps.Obsessedjack

Find a local fencing company and call them to see if they will give you the fence they tear down from projects. There is one here in Denver that has a "boneyard" as tall as a two story house of wood...all FREE!! I have gotten truck loads from there. Also craigslist is a great resource for free materials. Good Luck!

I used one bundle wood lath and two 1x2's. all bought for a total cost of 10.34.
The Lath was 7.68 for a bundle has about 75 pieces. The 1x2's are 1.17 each 8 foot length.
All can be bought at lowes or home depot

Another idea is to find a convenience store, grocery store, etc. that has a large stack of wooden pallets out back. Ask the manager if you can get some of them, and your fence will end up costing you the prices of a box of screws or nails. You save money, and the store doesn't have to pay to dispose of the pallets.

I built this fence for a little over $60 last year. I plan on making some improvements this year but you can't beat the price.

I am doing something similar from the Raven Manor project, I just started this weekend. Each panel is going to be 8' long. Here is a break down of the material.
Two Furring Strips - .87 cents each
Electrical PVC pipe - need between four or five, depending on your spacing - $1 each.
Black can of spray paint - $1
Three rods of rebar - around $2-3 each.
And a partridge in a pear tree!
Each eight foot panel costs between $7-$9 to make, then the rebar.
Hope this gives you a better idea."When there's no more room in Hell, the dead will walk the earth!"
