Can anyone tell be how to wire a classic dangling light bulb that flickers in a creepy, "don't go down that hallway" sort of way?

I'm hoping to get an effect similar to this video clip:

Here is a link to another thread where you can do a powerstrip hack then all you would have to do is put a male cord cap on the end of the cord that goes to the light. You may have to send Otaku a pm to get the instructions because the link to the PDF download no longer works. Anyhow here is the link to the other thread.

Okay, I feel pretty stupid. This is a direct link to the very tutorial I rebuilt for HeresJohnny back in 2009.

The power strip hack looks great, and I definitely want to try it, if I can find all the parts.

I thought I might try something simple, just cutting a power cord for a lamp fixture and putting in a FS-4 starter. It's not working, so I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong?

If I'm not mistaken you should be using FS-2 starters not FS-4. Also its hard to tell from the pic but you do have each of the ends of the cut wire going to different posts of the starter right.

Sorry for the poor picture, but yes, I have them going to each point. I guess the problem is I used a FS-4 instead of a FS-2.

The wattage of the lamp (bulb) will make a differance too, I think I used a 60 watt.

Well, I'm not going to go back to Lowes tonight, but I'll try and get back tomorrow and get a proper FS-2 starter.
