    Hey gang,

Just doing some planning for the 2011 haunt and wanted to see if anyone has had any experience with creating their own brick veneer.

I just purchased a rubber brick mold and will be attempting to use great stuff foam to make my bricks.

Have any of you tried to create brick with foam or some sort of lightweight resin?

    What was your experience?

I'll be documenting the process as I go, but was curious to see if anyone has had this idea before.

O.k., so after reading through 20+ pages of threads, I've come to a solution on how to get these to work.

I'm using Tap Plastic Quik-Cast to fill the silicone mold. Once molded, I'll prime and paint.

I'm basing this off of another post Lots of skulls from liquid plastic and foam that I saw on the forum.

Once the quik-cast arrives, I'll do a photo or video tutorial (if it works, ha!)

    Wish me luck!

So here was my test brick. Equal parts of the resin and the activator and in about 12 minutes I had a brick. It was really simple.

Now I just need to figure out how to pull it from the mold before it completely hardens so that I can bend it around the corner of my column.

    So far so good!!

I found it on eBay while looking for other faux brick products and just figured I'd give it a try.

Truth be told, to make all the necessary bricks from plastic is going to be more than I expected to pay. So now I'm stuck with a expensive mold and a handful of plastic bricks. Haha

I wonder if it is possible to raise the edges of the mold so that you can make panels of bricks with mortar in between them.

So, what is did that test brick cost to make?? Looks like 1.5 x 5 inches in size.

I can make one brick for 5 cents out of extruded foam that is 2" x 6" x 1" deep, if I cut my 4' x 8' foam brick walls into individual bricks:

Texture their surface with my SonicCrafter tool.
