I'm sure you could, if you built up the sides, although the mold is very flat on top and wouldn't give the right texture or layout that everyone associates with tiled brick.

I have since determined that I can make the bricks much thinner than my initial test brick, but I'm figuring that I'll roughly get about 12-14 bricks per quart ($25 per quart) = around $1.78 per brick.

Not a cheap solution at all.

I'm looking into alternatives, although I want this thing to be indestructible, since I don't plan on making these columns more than once.

It's the whole "spend less money and have to replace it later or spend more money and never have to replace it" sort of situation.

    Tap Plastics Quick-Cast is what I used, which comes in a few sizes. 1quart = $25, 1/2 Gal. = $41.50, 2 Gal. = $126.25

So at it's cheapest, I'm looking at $0.98 per brick.

They offer it in a drum, but I'm afraid that would be way more than I need.

The texture thing could be remedied with either creative painting or adding the texture by using possibly sand or other ruffage to create that concrete look. I remember in theater class we had to paint some panelin and we went the route of just painting in between the bricks, looked fine from three feet away.

So we're a bit further today. I figured if I build the column I'll be able to get a count of how many bricks I'll need.

Come to find out, it'll be around 81 bricks per column. I still have to do the match on it, but it's a start.

Here's a picture of the progress

It looks pretty good, but as I am really lazy with prop making I would just go with the 4' x 8' sheet of faux brick from Lowe's or HomeDepot for $25
