Saw this video clip online and loved the FCG finger movement. It is much different than any other FCG I have seen. Thought I start a how-to brainstorm to build this type of prop. I'm not the most mechanically inclined person so any of you out there with the expertise....please post your ideas here.

    Looks cool!
I'm not sure how it's done. Almost looks like it has an individual mini-FCG mechanism to move the fingers of each hand.
Doesn't sound impossible to build, just a pain in the kiester!

How did they get those fingers to move?

I love that!!! It's so creepy and the best addition to a FCG I've seen in ages. We must figure this out.

How does s/he make the one finger go out to the side? If the hand were made from long springs with a soft load to bend. At rest the hand would be open. You could tie fishing line to the floor and roof at different lengths to the hand. So as the arm move the hand would open and close.

The FCG prop is made by Mano Rodriguez (HE) from Stockton Cal., can't find a contact for him to see if he would share the finger movement secret.....

I think the hand motion comes from within the body of the puppet and may be based on this: http://www.instructables.com/id/Simp...-robotic-hand/ This how to seems to have all of the motions to it that are displayed in the video.

The movement of the FCG are obviously by string. Would separate motors need to be added for each hand or could this all be set up on pullys with the one motor?

If you use the tut that I linked to earlier, I could see this working with one additional motor from the one moving the ghost, probably in the head of the ghost. The finger movements of both hands in the vid seem sync'd to each other so they are most likely set up off the same motor.
