Default Plans/Tips to make Black Pearl Ship (POTC)

    Hello all,

First, 'damn glad to be here.. looking thru some of the posts gives me some ideas..

With Pirate-mania running rampant, I decided to be assimilated by the Hollywood-hype and do a Pirates-themed yard this year..

Anyone know where I can find some sort of plans (if they exist) for a wheel house, or small portion of a ships deck? I think I know how to do the main mast and yardarms(landscape/garden timbers) and I can make up a main sail from a sheet, dye it black and paint skull/crossbones on it.. I snapped some pix of the Pirates of Carribbean display at Downtown Disney and may have to go with that if I cant find anything else..

    Thanks,

    TJ

Not 100% accurate, want to have something btwn 6'x6' and 8'x8', couple feet high... just want it to look like a wheelhouse or poopdeck from the sidewalk.. will use a landscape wagon wheel and add peg handles for the ships wheel.. will distress/weather wood/deck planks and railings, I can use a 10' to 12' landscape timber (or 4" PVC) for main mast and 2" to 4" PVC for the sail booms. Run some ropes for rigging/rat lines. Something like this:

Last 10 yrs or so have been graves, guillottines, tombstones.. just want to do something different this year.

I'm building a poopdeck stage with a ship's wheel for my pirate band. Here's a pic of the scale model I built...

It will measure 12' x 8' by 12' tall. The band members are servo driven singing skeletons. Here's what the stage looks like now...

Hahahahaha! Thats what I have in mind, but adding a mast, boom and pirate sails.. looking something like the Disney POTC display.

I did a pirate haunt last year and it was a hit. I didn't make the whole ship persay but I did it in pieces to go with our front steps and sidewalk. I put an extra wood attached to my porch with the wheel made out of chair legs with the captain sitting up there and a big sail on my railing and the front half of the boat with pirate sail on other side of sidewalk.I looked on freecycle in my area and asked ppl for free wood. I spent alot of time on it but not alot of money. Good luck on your pirate haunt!! (Sorry I cannot post the pix until I have posted 3 times.)

Here are my pix just for you to look at. I couldn't make a whole ship as I didn't have enough wood around but I made do with what I could get for free. I wasn't good to get a night photo but we lit the tiki torches and purple lights leading from the sail/mast. Good luck on on your pirate haunt!!
