This review is on Hirez's new dvd's - Ax killer & Psych Ward: D-Block. I know there have been lots of controversial issues over the Ax killer/ asylum door thing,
this is just a review on his dvd's & not to turned into another stone throwing session. Please, any comments added to this be about the dvd's & not anything else.....
Thank you & with that said, now on with the review.

( Sorry this review a little later than i planned on posting ) I payed for both 11am mon last week, he had them in the mail that early afternoon. I received them wed. They were well packaged for protection.
Covers / artwork very well / professionally done with full info on back & not some cheesy photocopy. Inside were directions about the dvd & ALL special info & directions on using dvd & all special features.
Dvd's labels are nice silkscreen type printed,not copy stickers. I popped them each in my laptop to preview them. !st off i have to say is they look WAY better in person ! When i played them on the 24" screen, WOW, really had awesome visual impact. Really can't wait to do the full build with the doors ( I plan on a few separate doors for a hallway effect ) I went thru the menus & viewed the different selections, nice to be able to select a clockwise or counter clockwise screen view.
Also being able to have stereo if not using the opt with the decoder & ax hits. The menu also has a nice setup for a couple of delay settings on the decoder tones to compensate for any mechanical or pneumatic delays.
Was well & fully thought out in the dvd's design of functions. These were all done with a professional approach & time invested at a reasonable cost for a in-your-face effect for the home haunter & not just crap thrown together for a quick buck.

I then logged on to his site with my registration code to access the door build info. He has meticulously gone thru everything needed to build a door & a start to finish build guide. Nice as he had edited the info with the do's & don'ts as well as things he tried that didn't work or a better way to do it..... thanx, nice not to do something that i don't have to or find out i shouldn't have, ya know what i mean LoL

All in all I give them a 2 Bucky's thumbs up for fast delivery, well packed, professional cover & DVD, easy to use & understand menu system, web site for build & use info & of course - awesome professional dvd's / effects !
I would have to say Hirez uses some pretty creepy actors to make the dvd's come alive !! Nothing less than if these were real insane asylum people ! I really love the cell block D guy- well done !
Can't wait for the nurse & zombie dvd's & looks like the ghost dvd will be next to add to my SFX dvd collction !
Well just got my DTMF tone encoder ( also a smooth transaction ), so time to start a few doors & dig up some cyl's / solenoids & get crazy !?!?!

& special cuddo's to his figuring out the use of a DTMF decoder within dvd's for a cost effective triggering device / system & with multiple / unlimited uses for other prop triggering situations !!
