ok so this is a minor rant.... Why is it that people RSVP if at all, so close to the party? I'm hosting on the 30th and today I got another 8. Now it's great because I'm ending up with over 80 but seriously... When you're buying everything you really would like to know well in advance.

Throwing parties can be so frustrating
People RSVP then don't show up
People show up but don't RSVP
People get the RSVP and don't even acknowledge they got it
People wait until the last minute to RSVP
People RSVP to multiple events
People Don't read the RSVPS
People Don't show up if their friend/sister/mother/neighbor/boyfriend/coworker/children are not invited also
People use their one rsvp as a license to invite 10 more people
GOOD LUCK!!!! I hope the party goes well!Darkness has a hunger that's insatiable

I know how you feel, but I'm having a different sort of problem. I've had several people say they'd come several weeks ago, but now that the towns and churches are doing their trick-or-treating and 'trunk-or-treats' Saturday too, apparently we're playing second-fiddle and they'll probably be doing that instead. Frustrating especially after spending so much money on food.
People can be so rude when it comes to RSVPing (and keeping their word)... Maybe I should get the Emily Post Rules of Etiquette book (or whatever it's called) for everyone for Christmas. Good luck to you and hope your party is a success!

Well, nobody has even bothered to rsvp to mine! I've had to bring it up everytime I see someone, and they're generally like, "Oh, I don't know what I'm doing for Halloween yet," or "Yeah, maybe i'll come!" So I really have no idea at all who is coming over on Halloween.

We used eVite exclusively this year ( and saved probably $100 on mailings, paper, postage, etc.). Of course some people still can't just click the "attend" or "decline" button, how hard is that? It worked out pretty well though I have to admit. I like that is shows who viewed the invite. If I know someone looked at it, and didn't respond, I usually don't pester them (unless I know they are someone who likes to come and probably will, and I am worried they just forgot...). The ones that I see never viewed it I "poke" in the week leading up to it.
FWIW, we invited 98 (some could be couples), and we got:
53 Accepts (includes those bringing spouse/guest)
8 Maybes
17 Nos
20 No response
Of those 20 no response (on eVite), I know of at least 6 that are coming, so we are near 60.
Actually that is pretty good for us. But we have "pruned" our guest list a bit in recent years (this is our 17th annual party) and established some real party "groupies" ... and dropped the people who despite being good friends, never replied or came. I used to fret about attendance (one year we invited 80 and got 16) but I think we have reached a "Critical mass" now, and as long as I get the same 30+ really fun people, I could care less who else comes (or doesn't come).JH
