I'm not really sure what to think about my party this year. My husband and I always try to outdo our party from the previous year. While I think we have a lot of fun things planned (including our second annual murder mystery), I am worried about the amount of people coming. In past years, we only had about 10-13 people, but this year will be around 25-30 . . . over double past years!! I have a tiny living room (11' x 17') and a decent sized 3 season porch (10' x 24'), but that is about all the room we have for people other than the kitchen, which will be standing room only. While I am excited we have a lot of people this year, I don't really know how to handle it. We have all different types of people coming and most will not know each other, so I hope they interact okay! My party is on Friday and I am getting super nervous about it! If anyone has any tips on how to deal with a bunch of people, they would be greatly appreciated! Uf! Since we are the host/hostess, I feel we need to make routine rounds and talk to everyone and not have people feel left out, but that is a lot of people to keep track of! Anyway, thanks! =)

AndiKay, this is the best kind of party to have, its challenging & fun! People find each other & know how to converse & find things they have in common. I use to have a Diner & had all kinds of parties with people attending that did not know each other ....it went well & was fun. You are gonna do fine & will get around to everybody to say hi.
Don't worry about squeezing them in...when people are having fun, which they will with the murder mystery, you'll be surprised how well it will all go. I always make sure I have music playing when my guests are arriving & all through the night...its makes the activities much more festive!!
You are gonna be busy with the food table & such & conducting the murder mystery so get a right hand, one of your friends to help you so you have more time to make the rounds.

Thanks, Muffy . . . that actually helps a lot! I really really hope it goes well - that is just a lot of people in a little area! =) Not sure how we are going to have seating for everyone, but hopefully it comes together more in the next few days! Thanks for the advice!!

It'll be fine. You'll actually find, I'll bet, that you've under-estimated the number of people you can comfortably fit in your home. I know I did the first year I had my party and was stressing, big time. There was PLENTY of room, and, we're actually having about 20 more people than came to that party this year. Good luck and have fun!

I agree with everyone above. 25-30 people is very doable - you don't have to worry at all. We usually have around 65 each year in our small house - first party we had 15, so it grew over the years. Anyway, our house is miniscule and I always wonder where I'm going to put everyone, especially if the weather is bad, but it somehow works out. I don't have a lot of seating, so people tend to move around from room to room. I really only have a small kitchen, small living room, TV area which is as small as the living room and the deck. The dining room has the table of food on it and people walk around it like a buffet. Oh, and we have a 10x10 deck. So you really have nothing worry about. Enjoy!

What about the garage? Most of our party takes place in our garage, in our small courtyard, on our decks, and in a tent that we erect on the driveway with tarps and fence poles. We have a relatively small house also but virtually none of the party takes place inside. Of course, we count on having dry weather and have always been lucky in that regard. We had over one hundred people attend Saturday night. So rest assured that keeping up with 25 or 30 is a piece of cake.
