Our first Halloween party is this Saturday the 23rd. I have been over and over all of the threads on this site. I am to the point now where I am obsessing over every detail and need to bounce some ideas off of someone. I am mainly wondering if I have enough food and drink to cover everyone. I also am very worried if the people will like the prizes? So let me know what you think....
There should be about 35-40 people coming all adults no children
    Food:
    -2 crock pots of chili
    -7 layer dip and chips
    -dirt pudding
    -chocolate covered pretzels
    -deviled eggs
    -red velvet cup cakes
-sugar cookies (might not do these)
    -cheese ball
    -veggie tray

    Drinks
    -Keg beer
-4 gallons of dragon blood's punch (hope this will be enough?)
    -coke/sprite/ect
    -apple cider

Prizes- Best overall, funniest, scariest, most creative, an worst costume
    -Bottle of Vodka
-Bottle of Crown and gift set
    -Bottle of Captain Morgan
    -Bottle of Jager
    -6 pack of Oktoberfest

I got the decor down thanks to all of you wonderful people! Now I just want to make sure I'm not going to mess this up lol. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

I think it sounds great! I had considered doing a keg my first year but glad I didn't. A lot of people brought their own beer, even though I said I'd provide it on the invite; and, people didn't drink as much beer as I thought they would. You MIGHT consider just doing cans/bottles and, that way, if they don't drink it all, it's not wasted and you can keep the left-overs for another day. Our 3rd party is on the 30th and we'll have 2-3 canned beers to choose from -- another plus when forgoing the keg -- variety.

Keep in mind, too, that most if not all of your guests will have never seen this forum! They will never know all of the possibilities for a Halloween party that we've learned about here and their expectations will be MUCH lower than any of US would have for a Halloween party based on what we've learned in this forum! LOL!

Truly, it's easy to become obsessed and feel inferior in this forum because of all the great ideas and effort people put into their parties, but, what you have to remember is that everyone's party is unique based on: finances, geography, number of people attending, types of people attending, etc. A party host may have an UNBELIEVABLE setup for a party, massive gifts, food out the wazoo, decor, all the alcohol you can drink, but, they're only having 20 people at their party. If you're having 50-100 people, you may not be able to afford or accommodate all the same effort. Do what YOU can do, plan the things YOU'LL enjoy and don't worry about competing with the forum members.

    Good luck on your party!

    Hi!
That will so be me next week! haha. I have to start a week early in fact just to get all the decorations up as I have bought so many! eek!

The prizes are amazing and more than people would expect! Mine we all £1 prizes last year - with some bad ones as booby prizes (like Granny knickers, hehe). For our main costume prize, we just gave a bottle of wine & some luxury chocs and they were well impressed with just those!

Food wise - the only thing I can see possibly lacking (this really depends on if it's a snack buffet or dinner buffet?) is some sort of bread finger food (i.e. small open rolls with toppings) for those who might not like chilli or vegetarians etc? or maybe chicken drumsticks? Otherwise it sounds good!

I will also be doing chilli and rice but not sure how people will take it. I also thought about a load of jacket potatoes as they can be shoved in the oven (are cheap) while the chilli is on the stove and people can pour it over it?

It's just a suggestion but I really wouldnt worry about it.
As tgoodman rightly said, most people haven't a clue what to expect (unless you set high standards each year!) so they are happy with just somewhere to party!

    Good luck!

Tgoodman...Thanks for the reassuring advice. You are right that the guests won't be forum members so I will just keep thinking that!! Great advice thanks! I wanted to do canned beer but this was the one thing hubby wanted or spoke up about because he likes the taste of keg beer better. I however think it is easier to do the cans....lol But he never asks for anything so I'm not going to try and sway him

Piggles....I think now that you mention it I might add some chicken wings! Thanks for the suggestion I was only going to do snacks but I knew after drinking all that beer the guys would be hungry, lol that's why I thought I'd add the chili. I like your idea for prizes....I would be thrilled to get chocolate AND wine!!!!

Brahmababe and Piggles- we will all get through this! Good luck with your parties.

    Thanks for everything guys!

I was very anxious last week over the first of my parties this year. I always spaz about things like the food! Yours sounds good. Great prizes. Have fun and REMEMBER to TAKE PHOTOS. I always get busy and forget to take many.
