This was just an idea I had for doing at our Halloween party. I thought about buying one of the small faux pumpkins from Dollar Tree for each child that would be at our party. Dollar Tree also has pipe cleaners, googly eyes and other craft items very cheap, so I thought about setting up a table with all the supplies and letting the kids decorate their own pumpkins. It would be a cute souveneir and could atleast keep them busy for a little bit.
If one wanted to, they could also give prizes for the best decorated. Or to ensure every kid got a prize, you could give prizes for the scariest, prettiest, most goofy, etc.
Would be a fairly cheap way of giving the kids something to do and they'd have something to take home.![]()

That's great to keep the kids occupied... but it's messy (and if you have hot glue, would have to have a parent there). Might could consider 'activities' that allow the kids to get their energy out, like a pumpkin bean bag toss. What's worked well for me is to do the car accident thing where you do the various body parts, put them behind a black screen they have to reach through to feel, and a form they have to fill out to associate which feel went to which body part. They LOVE that! (and it's safe, gross, fun)

I just had our 4th annual boo bash and pumpkin carving is one of the activities, except I have each child bring their own real pumpkin for carving. My party is always outside, so mess isn't an issue. Before we do pumpkins, though, I let the kids run through the inflatable haunted house to get some energy out. The children's ages ranged from 1 - 9 yrs old. After carving pumpkins, they had a costume contest and then a hayride. While they were doing all of that, the adults ate stew and hors d'ouerves and I lit candles in all of the pumpkins. It's a HUGE hit and the kids always love it, which is why I continue doing it every year.
Anyway, I think your idea is fine!"It was night, and the rain fell; and falling, it was rain, but, having fallen, it was blood."
