I'm having a party at my house, but some people with a kid are coming over. The kid is a 5 year old girl. What movie can I play at my party that won't scare the crap out of the kid, but won't bore to death the adults?

It might help if you can ask the parents what she can handle.

Generally though, I can think of a couple off hand that seem safe either way...

The Nightmare before Christmas is a good one, how about The Corpse Bride? My kids love that one...

I just watched a great one last night, scared a few adults towards the end too. It was originally made for TV so that 5 year old should be able to handle it... even has a young girl acting in it! It is called Dark Night Of The Scarecrow.
You can buy it on Amazon.com, think it is around $17.99, something like that. You might also get some of R.L. Stine's Goosebumps as they can be entertaining but kid friendly.
Hope this info helps... go with DNOTS, you won't be dissapointed... even has a Halloween party in it!
