So many great ideas float around like ghosts on these forums, I thought I could ask for some ideas.
My daughter is having a Birthday / Halloween party this year, and one of the things I do is have them search for their goodie bags. Lights off, strobes going, fog machine, the works, but I am at a lost on getting some "startle" scares. Something that goes "bumb" when they don't expect it. I've been banging my head trying to come up with some ideas, but I am drawing a blank.
Also, I am need some help for some games for boys, and girls. Any help would be apprciated.

I'm not sure about scares. But some activities my sister's kids have done:
-Pinatas are always fun, unless you think they're getting enough candy already. And you can buy pinatas in the shapes of bats, skulls, etc. Google can help you find pinatas if you don't know where they might be in your town.
- pin the tail on... okay, pin the nose. Pin the pumpkin nose on Zero, Jack Skellington's ghost dog. Easy to make, fun too, and you can just put glue from a glue stick on each pumpkin to make it stick.
- cookie decoration. You can buy or make a bunch of plain Halloween sugar cookies and provide the kids with frosting in bags, a covered surface to work on, and have them decorate the cookies. They can eat them there or take them home. (Yes this has huge mess potential.)
And a cake idea:
-a cake with flamey eyes; you use sugar cubes as eyes. Pour 1/2 tsp lemon extract over each cube, then light with lighter or match. The cake can be a ghost, skull, whatever you want.

Hi -
My favorite game is the Mummy Wrap. Unlike some of those links, I have everyone pair up. Each pair is given one roll of toilet paper. One person wraps the other person. We give prizes for the quickest team and most stylized wrap. Some of the teams can quite creative.
We always play this game first because whatever we play afterward is usually messy and the toilet paper helps clean it up!
Have a great party!
