I find myself slightly claustrophobic when I go into closed spaces so I find myself breathing very heavily on the verge of having a panic attack with sweaty palms when I go inside haunted attractions. For any of you who have this issue, how do you alleviate the symptoms?

Call ahead and see if they have any open air/ large space mazes. Or choose a haunted trail or hay ride
Always know where the exits are... let staff know if you are really having an issue.
For home haunts...sometime they will even tone it down if you let them know before hand about your problem
Go with people you like and trust
Take deep breaths. Keep distance between you and the people around you.
Keep reminding yourself that it isn't real, and that it is almost over
If you become overwhelmed close your eyes or avert your attention elsewhere
Change how you view the room... when you walk around look for ideas, perfect hiding places, admire the acting and attention to detail, think about ways to improve the haunt, think about ways to incorporate details into your home haunt
And if it is really a problem.... Don't go. A cheap thrill is not worth a full blown panic attack.
There are lots of other options to enjoy halloween... scary movies, halloween parties, you tube videos etc.Darkness has a hunger that's insatiable
And lightness has a call that's hard to hear- E.A. Saliers
