Thread: Changing up my party, finally have a theme...need ideas...

ok, so this is my 6th annual Halloween party.

The first 5 years were for my sons and their friends. This year they said they didn't want to do it, so I am not doing it for them, I'm doing it for ME and my friends!

Hubby and I will have about 10 guests over, maybe 12. Not a bunch.

We are having the party on the 9th (EEKK, two weeks away!!) Due to one of my bestest friends having major back surgery on the 11th - I simply can NOT have this party with her and hubby being there!

So, since the party is kind of early this year, I thought instead of costumes like previous years, I changed this years into a Pajama party. I have bought me and hubby, feety pj's!! I told the guests to try to mix it up - go sexy silky, with kitten heel houseshoes, or go old school pj's that are white with blue stripes, put hair up in pig tails, wear big fuzzy slippers, robes, whatever!

I wanted everyone to be comfortable!

Since it's still 93 here, I figure in two weeks it won't be too cold - so I plan to have the party outside, under my big back porch. I'll have a chili buffett with all the fixings. The outside fireplace will be lit....I'll have lots of candles around for atmosphere.

Here's my question - I want to incorporate the Tempt Fate Game, but maybe try to do it with a "slumber" twist. Also, I like the balloon idea of it, so we all know someone is playing the game. I've got tons of bad and good fates - that's no problem.

I thought about doing up some more zombie dolls and putting them all in a play pen, and you have to pick one to get your fate - but that doesn't use the balloon method very good....I just love zombie dolls and would love to incorporate them somehow! LOL

As much as I love LOVE Halloween, since my party is so early this year, I feel it'd seem kinda dumb to make it too Halloweenie. I'm thinking I need to keep it more of a fall, autumn, feel to it....fires, smores, snuggling up in jammies. I plan to use a lot of pumpkins...just not JoL's. I was going to go with orange and black for the colors, but I really think I'll do orange and brown, maybe some burgandy. See, I'm totally not going in a Halloween direction at all, and I hate that, but it just seems like what I should do.

Any ideas along this line is much appreciated!! Sorry to ask for ya'lls help - this is a HALLOWEEN forum...but still, ya'll never let me down, and I still need you!!

You could make a nightmare party. Come in your pjs and see what the sandman brings. You could even make a haunted hotel for the "overnighter".

Of course you have to have a PJ contest. You could do tempt your fate and call it tempt the sandman. Either have a good dream, a nightmare or insomnia?

It also kind of sounds like a campout the way you describe. I see hay bales, scarecrows,....maybe a mini pumpkin patch. Even a game with the pumpkins? Tons of stuff going through my head!!!

Or you could make it a slumber party massacre. I see nothnig wrong with making it more Halloween and scary. And the haunted hotel idea is awesome.

Do any of the babies you use for zombies cry? That might work. You know those babies who cry when you pick them up or squeeze them?

OH, I like the Sandman idea!! and use Sweetdreams and Nightmares for the tempt the fates game.

No MsMeeple, none of my babies cry. I need to start looking for more babies! LOL

OH! BTW - I ran into Dollar Tree last night, and OMG they had JUST unloaded a whole bunch of NEW fall stuff!!! I got awesome thick plastic bowls shaped like leaves - they are clear, but in colors like green yellow and orange! I grabbed 12 of those for the chili. They also had gorgeous plastic tables clothes, plates, napkins and cups in several fall motifs. I grabbed those too!! AND the bestest thing of all - they had the carvable funkins!! Not real big, but not tiny either - really good table size. FOR A $1!!! I got 8 of them!!!

So my autumn layout is coming together! Thanks for the ideas guys!!

This sounds like fun. Be sure to play pass the pumpkin and use those small ones. You have two teams lined up and they pass the small pumpkin down the line relay style from person to person. The first person starts it with the pumpkin under their chin and passes it to the one behind them. The catch is that they can't use their hands. It gets hilarious.

Also check out the link I posted here on the Party thread called Superstition Theme. I ran across it last night. It is not Halloweenie either, but could work so many places. You might want to do some of the things shown there. The person's website has pics and even the handouts to download for the games, etc. And of course, the Tempt Your Fate game would be a perfect one for this theme.

I also don't think that is too early for Halloween stuff. I almost moved my Be WITCHY party to that date. I think someone else is having their the first weekend in October this year!!! It just leaves more time for fun.

Oh yeah, the zombie babies would be great.
