I'm planning to drape a room in red bunches of fabric to resemble the "fangtasia" bar on HBO's True Blood. Last year I tried blackout plastic in the same area and it was a HUGE pain - too heavy, too hard to affix (not a lot to stick it too, and it was too heavy/slick to support itself in this area).

I'm thinking of ordering a role of gossamer from GiantPartyStore.com, but I've never worked with it before. Should be light, but does it look okay, or look like paper? How did you affix it? Any photos?

    Your help is GREATLY appreciated!

It will look great! We used to use it all the time for Prom decorations. No photos. We actually attached it by making a small seam and running wire through. Then it could be attached to the ceiling tiles. I am not sure if tape would adhere enough.

Heather, that is so funny!! I had the exact same idea and was wondering the exact same thing!!! Great minds, huh?

For whatever reason I just really noticed the stage at Fangtasia in one of the last episodes, said to myself "I can do that" and I want to spray paint some trees black to set on either side. The plan is to have the "stage" set up for Karaoke.

Does the gossamer cover what you hang it over? Our walls are light, so it shouldn't be bad.

I went ahead and ordered it, and I think I'll take printersdevil's suggestion and make a casing & hang it from string/wire. I want it sort of bunchy, like curtains:

Mostly just want to add a "sense" of the red fabric walls. Also planning to make a lighted "Fangtasia" sign to hang over our built-in bar.

Fingers crossed that it all works out!

I wonder what it says about me that this is what I thought of when I first read the title?

When I use gossamer I run a seam in the end as well and string fishing line through it. You can attach the fishing line to nails, tacks, etc. To get the pulled together drappy look I use plastic zip wire ties bunch it together, zip it closed and then cut off the excess tie. Hope this helps.

I am a party planner and do use gossamer alot, but it is somewhat translucent, so you may have to bunch it up alot to keep from being able to see through it.
