    EASY HALLOWEEN HAYSTACKS
    Makes about 24.

    1 1/2 qts. popped popcorn
    1 c. chow mein noodles
1 (12 oz.) pkg. butterscotch peanut butter pieces

Combine popped popcorn and chow mein noodles in large bowl. In medium saucepan, melt butterscotch or peanut butter pieces over low heat, stirring occasionally until smooth. Pour melted candy over popcorn; stir to coat well. Drop by heaping tablespoons onto wax paper lined pan. Refrigerate until firm. Store in tightly covered container.

To complete the look, I used a toothpick shaped like a pitchfork. It's been a big hit with the neighborhood kids.

Sounds yummy. But what are butterscotch peanut butter pieces? I haven't seen that. I have butterscotch by itself pieces. Are they mixed together like Nestle's or something?

Exactly. You could just use straight peanut butter or butterscotch pieces, it really doesn't matter.

Here's another recipe for those who don't get enough artery-clogging food during their day.

    PUMPKIN DONUTS

    2 c. flour
    3 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. nutmeg
    1/3 c. sugar
    2 tbsp. grated orange peel
1 c. pumpkin, fresh or canned
    1 egg
    1/4 c. olive oil
    3/4 c. milk

In a large bowl, put together flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, sugar and orange peel. In a small bowl, beat together egg and oil and milk; add this to the dry ingredients then add the pumpkin.
Deep fry by teaspoon. Drain on paper bags or paper towels after removing from pan. Sprinkle with confectioners sugar or cinnamon and sugar mixed together.

Thanks for the recipes. I want to try the haystacks. The donuts sound good to but I can't find canned pumpkin around here.

S&S, where are you located? You should be able to find canned pumpkin in pretty much all major grocery chains.

I'm in WV. I was talking to one of the guys stocking the shelves at Kroger & he said something about the crops were bad, so that was the reason for none of the stores getting any pumpkin.
